Trinity truth

Introduction

The following is for those who read the writings of Ellen White and follow the Spirit of Prophecy. Over 100 quotes from the Adventist pioneers and Ellen White are given that reveal what they believed on the Trinity.

Please see the previous page for the history of how the Trinity doctrine entered the Seventh day Adventist Church and for more of the quotes from Ellen White that were used to convince Adventists she had become a Trinitarian. These misunderstood quotes were gathered by LeRoy Froom with the deliberate intent of changing the Adventist Church over to the Trinity doctrine. Most are unaware of this and typically never investigate further so are convinced Ellen White became a Trinitarian.

The Adventist Church was raised by God to teach end time Bible prophecy and prepare the world for the upcoming mark of the beast. But this also means having the seal of the one true God. So is it a real Father and Son or is it a three in one god that is just role playing? It is a huge difference and our salvation depends on getting this right.

Was Ellen White a Trinitarian?

It is claimed that Ellen White became a Trinitarian before completing the Desire of Ages which she finished in 1895. This claim is based on a handful of quotes that LeRoy Froom with deliberate intent set out to search for that he rightly figured would be misunderstood. Today many mistakenly believe these quotes say the Holy Spirit is a third being when in fact she actually taught the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God coming to us through His Son.

It is notable that Froom and those who helped him had to search over 100,000 pages of her writings (25,000,000 words) just to find the handful of statements from her that on the surface appeared to fit the Trinitarian concept on the Holy Spirit. But only if you choose to read them as such, and at the expense of the thousands of non-Trinitarian statements she wrote. This would be a deceitful way to treat her writings if that was done, and certainly would be a dishonest way to determine what she believed. This should never be done with Scripture and neither should it be done with Ellen White.

It is alleged that Froom was a Catholic Priest before he entered the Adventist Church and some suspect him of being a Jesuit. He did and said things that an Adventist would never do. It is a known fact that Froom ordered plates for a new book that B.G. Wilkinson was writing on the Catholic Church to be destroyed. No true SDA would do such a thing.

On the 14 December 1955, Leroy Froom in a letter to Reuben Figuhr wrote, “I was publicly denounced in the chapel at the Washington Missionary College by Dr. B. G. Wilkinson as the most dangerous man in this denomination.” This took place in the mid 1940's. I believe Dr. B.G. Wilkinson had very good reason for saying this, much to the disgruntlement of Froom.

Froom put these quotes that he found in his book Evangelism. Most think that these quotes called “EV” or “Evangelism” are from a book written by Ellen White. But it was written by Froom in 1946 which was 30 years after the death of Ellen White. With the intent to deceive, Froom placed quotes from Ellen White in his book where she had said “third person”, “three great powers” and “Heavenly trio.” But the “third person”, “third great power” and the third entity in the “Heavenly trio” all refer to the Spirit of Christ and not another being. This is how Froom managed to lead the entire Adventist Church astray because people did not take the time to look at what else Ellen White wrote. She in fact wrote non-Trinitarian statements right through to her death which is very easy to confirm if people would only take the time to look.

In looking at what else she wrote we find the answer remains the same every time.
She said the Comforter is the Spirit of Christ,
the Spirit of truth is the Spirit of Christ,
the third person is the Spirit of Christ,
the third great power is the Spirit of Christ,
the Holy Spirit given at Pentecost was the Spirit of Christ,
the Holy Spirit Jesus breathed on His disciples was His own Spirit,
the Holy Spirit Christ sent to represent Himself was His own Spirit,
the Heavenly trio is the Father, Son and Spirit of Christ,
and she reveals over and over again that there are only two beings.

All you have to do is want the truth and to stop reading the quotes from LeRoy Froom with the mindset of a Trinitarian. The early pioneers had no problem with these few quotes that Froom searched for because they knew who the Holy Spirit is and would never read them the wrong way. But if your belief is that the Holy Spirit is another being, then that is what you will see when you read them.

Some Adventists go into denial and claim that God would never allow error to get into His Church. But Ellen White in fact informed us that serious errors would enter the Adventist Church. You continually find such statements being perpetuated in the Adventist Church. God would never allow that to happen, or just because it is Catholic, that does not mean it is wrong, or Ellen White was a Trinitarian and then became non-Trinitarian and then became Trinitarian again. Many such lies are constantly being taught and perpetuated to keep Adventists trapped in a serious lie from Satan.

While there are a handful of quotes that can be misunderstood in regards to the Holy Spirit in these one hundred thousand plus pages of her writings, there is not a single use of the Trinitarian phrase “God the Holy Spirit” or “God the Son” for that matter. Seventh day Adventists frequently use the phrase God the Holy Spirit but she never used it once. There is also not one use of the word trinity or even so much as a hint of the triune three in one formula in any way shape or form. Considering this is the core foundation of the trinity doctrine, than one might ask why there is not a single mention if Ellen White became a Trinitarian! The answer is obvious unless you are prejudiced. And if you are reading this page with prejudice, you will never find the truth.

The spirit in which you come to the investigation of the Scriptures will determine the character of the assistant at your side. Angels from the world of light will be with those who in humility of heart seek for divine guidance. ... But if the heart is filled with prejudice, Satan is beside you, and he will set the plain statements of God's Word in a perverted light.” — (Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, p.108)

We cannot afford for prejudice to be an issue as that alone could cost you everything as Ellen White explains.

In the judgment men will not be condemned because they conscientiously believed a lie, but because they did not believe the truth, because they neglected the opportunity of learning what is truth.” — (Ellen G. White, PP 55.2)

And below is a further warning for the lazy who seek not the truth and make foolish comments like, “We do not need to know the truth on the Trinity. We will find out when we get to heaven.” Not caring if you have a counterfeit Father, Son and Holy Spirit is worse then saying, “I will wait until I get to heaven to find out if I needed to keep the Sabbath.” Such people will not likely get there says Ellen White.

Those who have an opportunity to hear the truth, and yet take no pains to hear or understand it, thinking that if they do not hear, they will not be accountable, will be judged guilty before God the same as if they had heard and rejected. There will be no excuse for those who choose to go in error when they might understand what is truth.” — (Ellen G. White, RH April 25, 1893, par. 10)

And to be shown the truth and yet reject it choosing wilful blindness also carries severe consequences.

The sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit does not lie in any sudden word or deed; it is the firm, determined resistance of truth and evidence.” — (Ellen G. White, Manuscript 30, 1890)

God said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to me: seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.Hosea 4:6

And while there are a handful of quotes that can be misunderstood in regards to the Holy Spirit, there is no misunderstanding that Ellen White right through her entire life states that Jesus is the literal Son of God, the First-born of heaven, tore from the bosom of His Father which makes her non-Trinitarian. She is either Trinitarian or non-Trinitarian, but she cannot be both.

You will also discover that the writings of the pioneers are anti-Trinitarian and so it is also claimed that Ellen White at some point in time did not agree with them and chose not to rebuke them for what was supposedly wrong teaching. Yet Ellen White is not known for remaining silent when serious error is being taught and God also instructed her to go from place to place correcting those with false doctrines and that included false theories on God. Not only that but God instructed her in 1905 to make sure the writings of the pioneers were reproduced even though they were anti-Trinitarian. So neither God nor Ellen White had an issue with their anti-Trinitarian writings which means the non-Trinitarian view is correct or God does not mind false doctrine being taught. The Adventist pioneers that God chose to start His remnant Church were in fact brilliant people who knew this topic and the Bible many times better than most Adventists today. Read this letter from J.S. Washburn on the trinity doctrine for an example. This man had memorized the entire New Testament and had started on Isaiah! J.N. Andrews could also reproduce the entire New Testament from memory in seven different languages.

While it is claimed that Ellen White changed and become a Trinitarian before 1895, you will soon discover that in 1905 she also stated that everything she wrote was what God bid her to write, and that God never asked her to change anything. God told her that what was truth in the beginning was still truth now. And that truth included the non-Trinitarian belief that was a God given Pillar of Faith. The truth is that Jesuit priest Alberto Rivera testified on video that the Jesuit Order was instructed by the Black Pope to infiltrate the SDA Church and bring it over to Rome. What is the central doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church that all other doctrines are based upon? The Trinity doctrine! So was Ellen White a Trinitarian at any time? Not a chance! It has also been alleged that LeRoy Froom was seen functioning as a Catholic priest before entering the SDA Church. Consider this warning from Ellen White below. These fallen angels masquerading as men, who might they be?

Satan will use every opportunity to seduce men from their allegiance to God. He and the angels who fell with him will appear on the earth as men, seeking to deceive. God's angels, also, will appear as men, and will use every means in their power to defeat the purposes of the enemy.” — (Ellen G. White, 8MR 399.1)

Ellen White Never Taught the trinity Doctrine

While Trinitarians falsely claim that Ellen White became a Trinitarian based on statements that can be misunderstood in regards to the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is only a small part of the equation which was the final part of the trinity doctrine. The 3 in 1 god idea was made up in 325 AD but the idea of the Holy Spirit as a third god was not made up until 381 AD.

So the basis of the trinity doctrine is a 3 in 1 god. So in order for Ellen White to be a Trinitarian, she has to teach 3 co-equal, co-eternal gods that are not 3 gods but 1 god.

If Trinitarians cannot produce at least one clear statement from Ellen White that says the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are 3 gods that are only 1 god, then in fact they have no argument!

Ellen White never used Trinitarian phrases such as, “God the Holy Spirit,” “God the Spirit,” “God the Son,” “God in three persons,” or “Trinity” in reference to the Godhead, “Triune God,” “Co-equal” in reference to 3 gods, “Co-eternal,” “Consubstantial,” “First Person,” “Second Person,” and “Third person” while referring to a third god. Ellen White taught the third person was the Spirit of Christ.

The trinity doctrine teaches three gods being the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And hence the Holy Spirit is the third god.

But Ellen White taught that it is the Father, Son and Spirit of Christ since she taught the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ.

Count to see who she taught was the third person. ONE + ONE + ONE = “the Spirit of Christ.

They have ONE God and ONE Saviour; and ONE Spirit--the Spirit of Christ” — (Ellen G. White, 9T 189.3, 1909)

So Ellen White never in fact taught a 3 in 1 god or even that all 3 are co-equal and co-eternal. And I challenge any Trinitarian to produce a statement that says otherwise.

Who is the Holy Spirit According to Ellen White?

The quotes from LeRoy Froom are able to be misunderstood because the majority of Adventists, including Pastors, do not know how Ellen White speaks in regards to the Holy Spirit or who she says the Holy Spirit is. So Trinitarians instantly assume that she is referring to another literal being as per the trinity doctrine. But once you know who Ellen White says the Holy Spirit is you will then realize that they are non-Trinitarian quotes. If you remember these next four points about how Ellen White refers to the Holy Spirit, then there is no reason to misunderstand the quotes Froom used.

1. Here is the most significant point. Ellen White frequently states that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ which is one reason why she refers to the Holy Spirit as a person. But she NEVER refers to the Holy Spirit as a BEING as she does the Father and Son. Note from these quotes how Ellen White refers to the Holy Spirit of Christ as a person with a personality. But note that it is NOT another literal being as so many Adventist Pastors and Christians frequently misunderstand.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, which is sent to all men to give them sufficiency, that through His grace we might be complete in Him.” — (Ellen G. White, 14MR 84.3) — The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ.

We want the Holy Spirit, which is Jesus Christ. If we commune with God, we shall have strength and grace and efficiency.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt66, April 10, 1894) — The Holy Spirit is Jesus Christ by His Spirit.

but it is the leaven of the spirit of Jesus Christ, which is sent down from heaven, called the Holy Ghost, and that Spirit affects the heart and the character.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms36-1891) — The Spirit of Christ is the Holy Spirit.

Christ has left His Holy Spirit to be His representative in the world, to give celestial aid to every hungering, thirsting soul.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt84, October 22, 1895) — The Holy Spirit which is in the world with us today is Christ's Spirit and can function independently of Himself.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ; it is His representative. Here is the divine agency that carries conviction to hearts. When the power of His Spirit is revealed through the servants of God, we behold divinity flashing through humanity.” — (Ellen G. White, 13MR 313.3, 1895) — The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ.

Cumbered with humanity, Christ could not be in every place personally; therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them, go to His father, and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is [Christ] Himself, divested of the personality of humanity, and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit, as the Omnipresent.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt119, February 18, 1895) — The Holy Spirit is Christ Himself by His Spirit.

This refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called the Comforter.” — (Ellen G. White, 14MR 179.2) — The Spirit of Christ is the Comforter.

The holy Spirit is the comforter, as the personal presence of Christ to the soul.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, November 29, 1892) — The Holy Spirit is the Comforter which is the personal presence of Christ in you by His Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, in Christ's name. He personifies Christ, yet is a distinct personality.” — (Ellen G. White, 20MR 324.2) — The Holy Spirit is the Comforter as the person of Christ with a distinct personality.

Lift up Christ in His power in the person of the Holy Spirit. He is waiting for them to open the door and admit Him.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt59, March 29, 1899) — Ellen White calls Christ by His Spirit a person.

When trials overshadow the soul, remember the words of Christ, remember that He is an unseen presence in the person of the Holy Spirit,” — (Ellen G. White, DG 185.2, 1897) — Ellen White calls Christ by His Spirit a person.

Some may now be asking why Ellen White called the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Christ? The idea of the Holy Spirit as another BEING is the second and final part of the trinity doctrine that is a manmade doctrine from the Catholic Church which was inspired by Satan so he could achieve the worship he desires. This is the lie that most have been indoctrinated with and so when they finally hear the real truth they struggle as it is seems foreign to them despite being truth. So how can the Holy Spirit be both the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ?

Because Christ inherited everything from His Father including His life. “For as the Father has life in himself; so has he given to the Son to have life in himself.John 5:26

As Ellen White said, “All things Christ received from God, but He took to give.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 21)

And so God gave not only His self-existent LIFE but also HIS SPIRIT as the Father gave “all things” to His Son.

The Father gave HIS Spirit without measure to HIS Son,” — (Ellen G. White, RH, November 5, 1908)

And so the Father and Son are one in Spirit and share the same Spirit.

They were two, yet little short of being identical; two in individuality, yet one in spirit, and heart, and character.” — (Ellen G. White, Youth's Instructor, December 16, 1897)

The Holy Spirit is therefore not another being but the very presence of God Himself coming to us through His Son.

In giving us HIS Spirit, God gives us HIMSELF,” — (Ellen G. White, 7T 273.1, 1902)

So as Ellen White said, the Spirit of God comes to us through His only begotten Son and why the Holy Spirit can rightfully be called the Spirit of Christ.

The Holy Spirit, which proceeds from the only begotten Son of God,” — (Ellen G. White, RH, April 5, 1906)

Hence Jesus could say, “lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.Matthew 28:20

How is Jesus going to be with us as our mediator, teacher as the Spirit of truth, Comforter etc. if He has returned to the Father? By coming back as another of the same kind. That is, through His Holy Spirit.

While Jesus ministers in the sanctuary above, HE is still by HIS SPIRIT the minister of the church on earth. HE is withdrawn from the eye of sense, but HIS parting promise is fulfilled, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” Matthew 28:20. While HE delegates HIS power to inferior ministers, HIS energizing presence is still with HIS church.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 166)

Ellen White also called the Holy Spirit the third person in four quotes of which two were repeated. In any case, the third person is whoever she says the Holy Spirit is. She said The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, and hence the third person is the Spirit of Christ. Christ of course is a person even if it is by His Spirit. So when reading quotes that refer to three or the third person, remember that the third is always the Spirit of Christ and there will be no contradictions. The truth is then easily seen that she is not referring to a third being but to Christ through His Spirit. And for even more clarity, the following reveals ever so clearly how Ellen White saw the Godhead. So who does she reveal to be the “third person” of the Godhead? This was written at least fourteen years after it is claimed she became a Trinitarian and is consistent with all her writings.

The Godhead according to Ellen White. The third person is the Spirit of Christ, not another literal being.
Let them be thankful to God for His manifold mercies and be kind to one another. They have one God and one Saviour; and one Spirit--the Spirit of Christ--is to bring unity into their ranks.” — (Ellen G. White, 9T 189.3, 1909)

2. Ellen White also refers to the Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Christ as a power. Keep this in mind when you read the misunderstood quotes from LeRoy Froom in regard to three great powers, three highest powers etc. She is not referring to the Holy Spirit as another literal being but to the Spirit of Christ which she calls a divine “power” which is also the presence and “power” of God. “Christ has given his Spirit as a divine power.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, November 19, 1908). “The divine Spirit that the world's Redeemer promised to send, is the presence and power of God.” — (E.G. White, Signs of the Times, November 23, 1891). The world's Redeemer of course is Christ and the divine Spirit He promised to send is His own Spirit to be our Comforter. “Cumbered with humanity, Christ could not be in every place personally; therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them, go to His father, and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself, divested of the personality of humanity, and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit, as the Omnipresent.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt119, February 18, 1895)

3. Some of Ellen White's writings speak of the Holy Spirit as if it is another entity while not giving clarity that she is referring to the Spirit of Christ. If you do not take careful note of this point, then you could become confused by some of her quotes. You may conclude she teaches the Holy Spirit is another being or that she contradicts herself. For example: Note carefully the above quote in the last point. In the first half of the quote she speaks as if Christ is going to return to the Father and send someone else called the Holy Spirit. That is all some of her quotes say and if you have not seen what else she writes that reveal who she is referring to, then you could easily conclude that she is referring to the Holy Spirit as another being. Now note carefully the last part of the quote. She unmistakably states that the Holy Spirit is Christ Himself. Talk about confusing if you do not notice that she writes this way or have not seen quotes like this and others where she ever so clearly states that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. The following three quotes reveal that she calls the Holy Spirit a divine, unseen, free working independent agency. Who is this independent agency? It is Christ by His Spirit. “The Holy Spirit is a free, working, independent agency.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, May 5, 1896). “and the Lord Jesus, the unseen, agency, by His Holy Spirit is to make the Word efficacious and powerful.—Letter 105, 1900.” — (Ellen G. White, 2SM 18.3). Who is the Holy Spirit that she calls an independent agency? “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ; it is His representative. Here is the divine agency that carries conviction to hearts.” — (Ellen G. White, 13MR 313.3, 1895). “Christ has left His Holy Spirit to be His representative in the world, to give celestial aid to every hungering, thirsting soul.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt84, October 22, 1895). Thus the Holy Spirit which is in the world today is the Spirit of Christ and not some other being. Christ's very own Spirit is spoken of as His representative because His Spirit can function independently of Himself in you and why Jesus and Ellen White often spoke of Christ's Spirit as if it is another. If you miss this extremely important point you could end up believing the Holy Spirit is another being instead of Christ's Spirit as so many do today. Thus the Spirit of Christ can function independently in each person but there is no mistake as to who the Holy Spirit is. How Christ's Spirit does this we do no know. Ellen White says the “nature” of the Holy Spirit is a mystery.

4. Ellen White demonstrated a distinction between the words “person” and “being.” While she speaks of three persons or personalities and powers, she consistently identifies only two beings: The Father and His Son.

How Ellen White saw the three PERSONS of the Godhead.
They have one God and one Saviour; and one Spirit--the Spirit of Christ” — (Testimonies Volume 9, p. 189, 1909)

How she saw the three highest BEINGS in heaven before the fall.
The Father, Son and Satan. “Satan, next to Christ, was ... highest in power and glory.” — (Signs of the Times, July 23, 1902)

How she saw the three highest BEINGS in heaven after the fall.
The Father, Son and Gabriel. “It was Gabriel, the angel next in rank to the Son of God,” — (Desire of Ages, p. 234)

How she would have seen the three highest BEINGS in heaven if she was a Trinitarian.
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

The Trinity doctrine teaches 3 co-equal beings and hence it claims the 3 highest beings in Heaven are the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. So the Trinity doctrine would make the Holy Spirit the third highest being in heaven, but according to Ellen White in the first chapter of Patriarchs and Prophets (p. 35), the third highest being in Heaven before the entrance of sin was Lucifer. And after the fall Ellen White says Gabriel was the next in line. “It was Gabriel, the angel next in rank to the Son of God, who came with the divine message to Daniel.” — (Desire of Ages, p. 234)

Who is it that wants to be like the most High and be worshipped and prayed to as God? (Isaiah 14:12-14). Has Satan devised a clever scheme to regain his lost third position and the worship he craves? By Satan creating the Trinity doctrine, it creates a non-existent third being. He can then step into that position he has created and not only receives the worship he desires, but he also effectively regains the position he lost as the third highest being in heaven. Very cunning! This is known as worship by representation and is what Satan has also done with Sunday worship.

Has Satan succeeded in accomplishing his goal of being included as deity? If we now believe the Holy Spirit can be worshipped and prayed to just like the Father and the Son, who actually receives our worship? If the Holy Spirit is not a third being then whose spirit would we have according to our belief and who would we be giving our adoration to?

Below Ellen White reveals again that the Holy Spirit is not a being yet alone the third highest being as the Trinity doctrine claims. She wrote that Satan was second to Christ making Satan the third highest being in heaven. Hence the Holy Spirit is not some third being called “God the Holy Spirit” as the Trinity doctrine claims but the Spirit of the Father and Son.

Satan wanted to be next to God and have Christ second to Him. In other words, for the three highest beings in Heaven to be the Father, Satan and Christ. Ellen White wrote this more than 15 years after it was claimed she became a Trinitarian which was 5 years before her death. This proves Ellen White was not a Trinitarian and never saw the Holy Spirit as a third being.

Satan, who was once a beautiful angel in the heavenly courts, became a fallen angel because he did not want to occupy a secondary place, but to be next to God. He would have the Lord Jesus become second to him, for his own glory was very precious in his own sight. He was jealous of Christ, the Saviour. Study the Word of God, and see what this jealousy led to in the end. There is nothing to be gained by jealousies. Although in the beginning Satan was an exalted angel of great glory in the heavenly courts, that glory became extinguished through his craving to be the highest one next to God.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms74, March 20, 1910)

Note the table below for clarity. The Holy Spirit is not included in the Biblical view as it is not a literal being but the Spirit of the Father and Son. Satan used to hold the third highest position in Heaven until he was thrown out and Gabriel took his place. By Satan creating the trinity doctrine and the idea of the Holy Spirit as a third being, Satan gets his third highest position back, but more importantly, he obtains worship as a god by representation just as he always wanted. Very cunning!

Highest being Trinitarian Non-Trinitarian What Satan desired
Order Catholic / SDA Church Bible / Ellen White Spirit of Prophecy
1st God the Father God the Father God the Father
2nd God the Son The Son of God Satan
3rd God the Holy Spirit Satan / Gabriel The Son of God
4th Satan Not revealed Not revealed

The Bible uses the term “Spirit of God” but it never uses “God the Spirit” as its meaning is incorrect. Phrases like “God the Spirit” or “God the Holy Spirit” are from the Catholic Church and terms used only by Trinitarians. But they are terms never found in the Bible because they are serious error. So likewise Ellen White never used the Trinitarian phrases “God the Son” or “God the Holy Spirit” which are commonly used by Seventh day Adventists and Trinitarians. So Ellen White being non-Trinitarian never used them once in the 25,000,000 words in the one hundred thousand plus pages that she wrote.

And the same applies to Christ. Does the Bible call Jesus “God the Son” as Catholics and Trinitarians do or does the Bible call Christ the “Son of God”? Scripture in fact always calls Jesus the “Son of God” and with good reason. Because that is what He is to state the obvious. If you are using Catholic phrases like “God the Son” or “God the Spirit,” then you are following antichrist, not the inspired words of God.

Ellen White could never be a Trinitarian based on how she saw the Godhead in 1910 and who she said the three highest beings in heaven are. While she refers to the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit of Christ as persons, she never refers to the Holy Spirit as a being. Her son knew she did not mean a third literal “being” but was still perplexed in trying to understand what his mother meant by a person. He concluded, “My perplexities were lessened a little when I learned from the dictionary that one of the meanings of personality was characteristics. It is stated in such a way that I concluded that there might be personality without a bodily form, which is possessed by the Father and Son.” — (W.C. White letter to H.W. Carr, April 30, 1935). So if you miss this point, you could also misunderstand what she is saying. And noting this point further confirms that she never saw the Holy Spirit as a literal being. Thus her use of the word person in regards to the Holy Spirit has confused many including her own son. While she used the phrase third person to refer to the Spirit of Christ, she never used this phrase in relation to the trinity doctrine. If she had then she would have also used the phrases first and second person. But note that she never once used either of these phrases in her one hundred thousand plus pages of writings. Hence the phrase third person had a different meaning in the language of Ellen White that has also led to the abuse of her writings. Ellen White NEVER identifies a third BEING. It is always “assumed” by misreading the Froom quotes with a Trinitarian mindset.

Some claim that Ellen White wrote “three holiest beings” once but the White Estate tells us that this statement comes from a “highly edited” stenographer's report of a sermon she preached in 1906. It was also not transcribed and released for another “seventy” years. So this is not Ellen White's handwriting, and hence not being by her hand, it can never be unauthenticated. It is not much better than what you would call second hand information.

This is what Ellen White wrote about unauthenticated reports, “And now to all who have a desire for truth I would say: Do not give credence to unauthenticated reports as to what Sister White has done or said or written. If you desire to know what the Lord has revealed through her, read her published works.” — (Ellen G. White, 5T 696.1).

The statement also appears in the book Sermons and Talks, Book 1. In the forward of the book we are told, “All the messages reproduced in this volume were delivered in public and stenographically reported, or were prepared with that purpose in view. Many of Ellen White's sermons may be found in the Review and Herald and Signs of the Times, but nearly all of those included in this series have been drawn from previously unpublished manuscripts, as they appear in our files. So, although there were no tape recorders in Ellen White's day, a person may get the true “feel” of Ellen White as a speaker by reading this book.” — (Forward, Sermons and Talks, Vol. 1)

If Ellen White had written those words, she would be a false prophet as it would contradict her writing that the third highest being in Heaven was Satan before the fall and Gabriel after the fall. So most have the good sense not to use the quote but some in desperation occasionally do. Froom never used it either but he died before it was transcribed.

Note also that Ellen White never used any Trinitarian phrases with the Trinitarian meaning.

The trinity doctrine teaches “3” co-equal, co-eternal beings that are not 3 gods but 1 god. Ellen White never wrote that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were “3” co-equal beings. But she did use the word “co-equal” once to refer to the Father and Son only but not the Holy Spirit. So I have excluded this below. Here is what she meant in this beautiful non-Trinitarian statement.

God is the Father of Christ; Christ is the Son of God. To Christ has been given an exalted position. He has been made equal with the Father. All the counsels of God are opened to His Son.” — (E.G. White, 8T 268.3)

And when the phrase “third person” is used in reference to the trinity doctrine, it is referring to a third god. And so since Ellen White was referring to the Spirit of Christ when she said “third person,” she never once used a Trinitarian phrase which of course are also never found in the Bible being a false doctrine brought in by Satan through the Catholic Church.

“Second Person” 0 Times 0 Times
“Third person” 0 Times 4 Times (repeated about 4 times each)

From the above four points we find the following:

1. Ellen White unmistakably states in many ways that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ and hence is also the Comforter.
2. She often speaks of the Holy Spirit as another entity because the Spirit of Christ can function independently of Himself.
3. She also refers to the Spirit of Christ as a person with a personality for the same reason given above.
4. She reveals that the Godhead therefore has three living personalities but the third is the Spirit of Christ.
5. She shows the Godhead to be the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit of Christ, which she calls the third person.
6. She states that the Spirit of Christ is a divine power making three great powers.
7. Hence there are three powers, but the third person and power is the Spirit of Christ, not another being.

If you keep these facts in mind, you should never misread the handful of quotes from LeRoy Froom which he placed into a book called Evangelism 30 years after her death, which was attributed to Ellen White since it contains her writings. Note that the headings, subheadings and bolded texts etc. before many quotes in this book are not her words. These quotes are typically called ev615-ev617 or Evangelism 615-617. So keeping these above points in mind, here are the three of the most difficult quotes from Ellen White that Froom used to try and prove she was a Trinitarian. Looking at a few other quotes from her will prove in fact that these are non-Trinitarian quotes. Here are the first two combined.

(Evangelism 616.6 and 617.1)

The Holy Spirit always leads to the written word. The Holy Spirit is a person; for He beareth witness with our spirits that we are the children of God. ... The Holy Spirit has a personality, else He could not bear witness to our spirits and with our spirits that we are the children of God. He must also be a divine person, else He could not search out the secrets which lie hidden in the mind of God.” — (Ellen G. White, MS 20, 1906) — Evangelism 616.6 and 617.1

The only quote we need is one where Ellen White says, “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, which is sent to all men to give them sufficiency, that through His grace we might be complete in Him.” — (E.G. White, 14MR 84.3)

Because this alone reveals that the above quote to be referring to the Spirit of Christ and not another literal being. But I will go further and provide quotes that reveal Ellen White used these phrases in reference to the Holy Spirit of Christ.

The quote in question says the Holy Spirit is a person and in the quote below she calls “Christ” the person of the Holy Spirit. So we have no conflict. She is referring to Christ by His Spirit, not another literal being. And the Spirit of Christ is a divine person of course. “When trials overshadow the soul, remember the words of Christ, remember that He is an unseen presence in the person of the Holy Spirit,” — (E.G. White, DG 185.2, 1897)

Christ of course is a person and hence one of the reasons she calls Christ the person of the Holy Spirit since it is His presence by His Spirit. Note that she often uses the word unseen when referring to Christ by His Spirit. So if she is calling Christ or the Holy Spirit unseen it is because she means it is Christ by His Spirit as in this form He cannot be seen. For example: “The human agent, the seen instrument, is to preach the Word, and the Lord Jesus, the unseen, agency, by His Holy Spirit is to make the Word efficacious and powerful.—Letter 105, 1900.” — (E.G. White, 2SM 18.3)

Christ through His Spirit is also the Comforter. “The holy Spirit is the comforter, as the personal presence of Christ to the soul.” — (E.G. White, Review and Herald, November 29, 1892). “This refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called the Comforter.” — (E.G. White, 14MR 179.3)

So the Comforter is the Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Christ. The quote in question says The Holy Spirit has a personality and below she effectively says the Holy Spirit of Christ has a distinct personality. So there is no conflict here either. The entire quote is referring to Christ by His Spirit and not another literal being. “The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, in Christ's name. He personifies Christ, yet is a distinct personality.” — (E.G. White, 20MR 324.2)

How easy is it to abuse or misunderstand a few quotes from Ellen White if you are not aware of the above points? And if you misread these quotes, it will contradict dozens of other quotes from her in the same time period which you will see later. She has an unusual way of referring to the Holy Spirit at times and unfortunately it has led to the abuse of her work. So we know she saw the Godhead as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit of Christ. Not another literal being as wrongly taught today. This is a belief that originated and was enforced by death by Emperor Theodosius 348 years after the cross.

Below is the third one that has the biggest impact on Adventists believing Ellen White was a Trinitarian. I have heard of non-Trinitarians turning Trinitarian after reading this quote. How very sad they did not look further at what she wrote. The entire quote is given to see the context and you will note the underlined part is what Froom used.

(Evangelism p. 616.5)

We need to realize that the Holy Spirit, who is as much a person as God is a person, is walking through these grounds.” — (Ellen G. White, Sermons and Talks Volume 2, pp. 136, 137, 1899) — Evangelism p. 616.5

Here is the entire quote to see the context.

The Lord [Jesus] says this because He knows it is for our good. He would build a wall around us, to keep us from transgression, so that His blessing and love may be bestowed on us in rich measure. This is the reason we have established a school here. The Lord [Jesus] instructed us that this was the place in which we should locate, and we have had every reason to think that we are in the right place. We have been brought together as a school, and we need to realize that the Holy Spirit, who is as much a person as God is a person, is walking through these grounds, unseen by human eyes; that the Lord God is our Keeper and Helper. He hears every word we utter and knows every thought of the mind.” — (Ellen G. White, Sermons and Talks Volume 2, pp. 136, 137, 1899)

We now know that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ who is as much a person as God is a person but what else reveals this? The context also shows it is the Lord Jesus Christ through His Spirit who walks through these grounds as our Keeper and Helper. He is the one who hears every word we utter and knows every thought of the mind. He is the only one who can renew our mind and transform us into His image through the power of His Spirit. Thus the close unity between God, who is a person, and the Holy Spirit of Christ, who is as much as a person, is clearly demonstrated.

Who does Ellen White say is walking through our streets unseen by human eyes by His Holy Spirit? “Christ walks unseen through our streets. With messages of mercy He comes to our homes.” — (E.G. White, The Ministry of Healing, p. 107). And who does Ellen White say hears every word we utter? “Remember that Jesus is beside you wherever you go, noting your actions and listening to your words.” — (E.G. White, The Youth's Instructor, February 4, 1897). The answer is Christ through His Spirit. And considering a Spirit cannot be seen, why does she state the obvious by saying unseen by human eyes? Because it is Christ who is an actual being that by His physical presence can be seen just as people can but by His Spirit cannot be. “The human agent, the seen instrument, is to preach the Word, and the Lord Jesus, the unseen, agency, by His Holy Spirit is to make the Word efficacious and powerful.—Letter 105, 1900.” — (E.G. White, 2SM 18.3)

So how does Christ walk unseen through our streets? By His Holy Spirit. And how was Christ walking unseen through the Avondale school grounds? By His Holy Spirit. So we need to realize that it is Christ, who is as much a person as God is a person, walking through these grounds, unseen by human eyes. Why is He unseen? Because He is doing so by His Holy Spirit. Ellen White was explaining omnipresence to the students at the Avondale School in this talk.

So Ellen White says it is Christ who hears every word we utter and is walking unseen by our side and He is unseen because it is by His Holy Spirit. “How few realize that Jesus, unseen, is walking by their side! How ashamed many would be to hear His voice speaking to them, and to know that He heard all their foolish, common talk!” — (E.G. White, 14MR 125.3). We also know it is Christ as she said that, “He is an unseen presence in the person of the Holy Spirit,” — (E.G. White, DG 185.2, 1897) and that “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ,” — (E.G. White, 14MR 84.3)

So is Christ as the unseen person of the Holy Spirit as much a person as God is a person? Of course! So this quote could also be written as, “We need to realize that Christ, who is as much a person as God is a person, is walking through these grounds by His Holy Spirit, unseen by human eyes.

Does it still look like a Trinitarian quote? Clearly not. So now you know why LeRoy Froom searched over 100,000 pages (25,000,000 words) of her writings for any quotes that could be misread if you have a Trinitarian mindset and do not know who Ellen White says is the Holy Spirit. Froom did this on purpose and anyone who has not got the good sense to spend time looking at what else Ellen White wrote will end up believing a lie. Too often Adventists are too lazy to study and quickly find a Froom quote like this one that Trinitarians spread around and happily draw the wrong conclusion and look no further. If you believe that the Holy Spirit is another being, you give your adoration to a creation of Satan rather than the Father and the Son. The consequences of not having a love of the truth could cost you your soul. Note the following.

In the judgment men will not be condemned because they conscientiously believed a lie, but because they did not believe the truth, because they neglected the opportunity of learning what is truth.” — (Ellen G. White, PP 55.2)

The sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit does not lie in any sudden word or deed; it is the firm, determined resistance of truth and evidence.” — (Ellen G. White, Manuscript 30, 1890)

Below are more quotes Froom placed in Evangelism which were compiled with the intent to deceive. Note that there are two sources listed as per the previous two quotes. The first is from Ellen White and the second is from LeRoy Froom.

(Evangelism p. 617.2)

The prince of the power of evil can only be held in check by the power of God in the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit.” — (Ellen G. White, Special Testimonies, Series A, No. 10, p. 37, 1897) — Evangelism p. 617.2

Note she said ONLY. So who is the “third person” who alone and hence only can hold in check the “power of evil?” “Jesus alone has power to save from sin, to free from the power of evil;” — (E.G. White, Review and Herald, February 10, 1891). She also wrote, “The only defense against evil is the indwelling of Christ in the heart through faith in His righteousness.” — (E.G. White, Desire of Ages, 324.1). It is Jesus Christ that holds in check the prince of the power of evil.

Ellen White also says the third person of the Godhead [is] the Holy Spirit. Therefore the third person is whoever she calls the Holy Spirit is. She said, “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, which is sent to all men to give them sufficiency,” — (E.G. White, 14MR 84.3). So the Spirit of Christ is the third person and we also find that she calls the Spirit of Christ a person. “When trials overshadow the soul, remember the words of Christ, remember that He is an unseen presence in the person of the Holy Spirit,” — (E.G. White, DG 185.2, 1897)

We also find the answer in the following, “Christ gave His representative, the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit.” — (E.G. White, CTr 301.4). Compare the grey underlined phrases to see who is Christ's representative which is the Holy Spirit and the third person of the Godhead. “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ; it is His [Christ] representative.” — (E.G. White, 13MR 313.3, 1895)

She also wrote that, “Sin could be resisted and overcome only through the mighty agency of the third person of the Godhead,” — (E.G. White, Desire of Ages, 671.2). So who is that we can only overcome sin and evil? The answer is found in the same quote. “Christ has given His Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress His own character upon His church.” — (E.G. White, Desire of Ages, 671.2). And also, “There is no power in you apart from Christ, but it is your privilege to have Christ abiding in your heart by faith, and He can overcome sin in you, when you cooperate with His efforts.” — (E.G. White, Our High Calling, 76.5). And “With His Spirit Christ sends a reconciling influence and a power that takes away sin.” — (E.G. White, Review and Herald, May 19, 1904)

Ellen White said only the “third person” can overcome sin in you and she tells us that person is the “Spirit of Christ.” Why would we think it was anyone else other than the One who conquered and overcame sin on the cross?

Here is the Godhead according to Ellen White. Count to see who the third person is. “They have one God and one Saviour; and one Spirit--the Spirit of Christ--is to bring unity into their ranks.” — (E.G. White, 9T 189.3, 1909)

Ellen White also used lower case to show that she did not mean a literal divine being, but after her death, others were responsible for capitalizing “Third Person” in her writings giving the reader the wrong idea. It is dishonest and wrong to misrepresent the thoughts of a writer.

(Evangelism p. 615.1)

There are three living persons of the heavenly trio; in the name of these three great powers - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit - those who receive Christ by living faith are baptised.” — (Ellen G. White, Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, pp. 62, 63, 1905) — Evangelism p. 615.1

Ellen White letter - three living personalities

The original handwriting reveals it should have been published as “here are the living three personalities” and not persons. Ellen White often borrows from other writers and borrowed from Trinitarian W. Boardman here. He wrote “three persons” and Ellen White changed it to “the living three personalities.” Note the insertion of the word “the” and “persons” changed to “personalities.”

Ellen White states that the “living three personalities” and “three great powers” are the “Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” So the identity of the third living personality which is also the third great power is the identity of the Holy Spirit. So who does she say is the Holy Spirit? “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ,” — (E.G. White, 14MR 84.3). She also calls the Spirit of Christ a person with a distinct personality and hence living three personalities. “Remember the words of Christ, remember that He is an unseen presence in the person of the Holy Spirit,” — (E.G. White, DG 185.2, 1897). Christ of course is a person with a personality even if it is by His Spirit. “The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, in Christ's name. He personifies Christ, yet is a distinct personality.” — (E.G. White, 20MR 324.2). She also said, “Christ has given his Spirit as a divine power.” — (E.G. White, Review and Herald, November 19, 1908). So that makes three living personalities and three great powers but the third is not another being but the Spirit of Christ.

Take careful note that Ellen White demonstrated a distinction between the words “PERSON” and “BEING.” While she speaks of three personalities and powers, she consistently identifies “ONLY” two beings -- the Father and His Son. So the words “PERSON” and “BEING” have different meanings to Ellen White. So “heavenly trio” is in fact non-Trinitarian. See W.C. White letter for example. Ellen White understood exactly what trinity means, being that the Father is God, Jesus is God, the Holy Spirit is God, yet there are not three gods but one God, and that's the trinity! Whereas a trio is three functioning harmoniously to effect one common goal, which is Biblical and non-Trinitarian. So we do have a heavenly trio but not a heavenly trinity. If you can count to three then you should have no trouble verifying who Ellen White said is the third person of the heavenly trio. ONE + ONE + ONE = “the Spirit of Christ.

They have one God and one Saviour; and one Spirit--the Spirit of Christ--is to bring unity into their ranks.” — (E.G. White, 9T 189.3, 1909)

So who is the third person in the heavenly trio? It is amazing how many people decide that in order for the heavenly trio to be three, that it must be three beings. Says who? A Trinity is always three beings. But a Trio is either three people OR three of something. In this case it is three powers. She never said trinity or three beings! Ellen White and Christ both revealed that His Spirit can function independently of Himself and so of course that makes His Spirit a third power.

(Evangelism p. 617.3)

We are to co-operate with the three highest powers in heaven,--the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost,--and these powers will work through us, making us workers together with God.” — (Ellen G. White, Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, p. 51) — Evangelism p. 617.3

In regards to “three highest powers” or “three great powers,” Ellen White says powers, not beings. The third power is the Holy Spirit which many interpret to mean another literal being. But this is incorrect as she says the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, not another being. “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, which is sent to all men to give them sufficiency,” — (14MR 84.3)

As for the Holy Spirit being referred to as a power, she called the Spirit of Christ a divine “power” which is also the presence and “power” of God. “Christ has given his Spirit as a divine power.” — (Review and Herald, November 19, 1908). He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit, as the Omnipresent.” — (E.G. White, Lt119, February 18, 1895)

In the following quote we find once again that God, His Son, and His Son's Spirit are the “three great powers” in Heaven. “Our sanctification is the work of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is the fulfilment of the covenant that God has made with those who bind themselves up with Him, to stand with Him, with His Son, and with HIS SPIRIT in holy fellowship. Have you been born again? Have you become a new being in Christ Jesus? Then co-operate with the three great powers of heaven who are working in your behalf.” — (E.G. White, Signs of the Times, June 19, 1901)

So who are the “three great powers?” The third is not another literal being, it is the Spirit of Christ. “They have ONE God and ONE Saviour; and ONE Spirit--the Spirit of Christ--” — (E.G. White, 9T 189.3, 1909)

So here are the “three highest POWERS” in heaven but who are the “three highest BEINGS?” Ellen White tells us the third highest Being in Heaven before sin was Lucifer. (E.G. White, Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 35). And after the fall she revealed Gabriel was the third highest Being in Heaven. (E.G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 234)

The answer as you would expect remains the same every time.

The Comforter is the Spirit of Christ,
the Spirit of truth is the Spirit of Christ,
the third person is the Spirit of Christ,
the third great power is the Spirit of Christ,
the third highest power is the Spirit of Christ,
the Holy Spirit given at Pentecost was the Spirit of Christ,
the Holy Spirit Jesus breathed on His disciples was His own Spirit,
the Holy Spirit Christ sent to represent Himself was His own Spirit,
the heavenly dignitaries are the Father, Son and Spirit of Christ,
the Heavenly trio is the Father, Son and Spirit of Christ,
and when we grieve the Holy Spirit it is the Spirit of Christ we grieve.

How do we know? Because each one of these is the Holy Spirit and “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ.” We also know because Ellen White tells us so over and over and over again in many different ways. All you have to do is look and want the truth and to stop reading those quotes from LeRoy Froom with the mindset of a Trinitarian. The early pioneers had no problem with these few quotes because they knew who the Holy Spirit is and would never read them the wrong way. But if your belief is that the Holy Spirit is another being, then that is what you will see when you read them.

Some Adventists are so prejudiced against the truth on the Holy Spirit that when you attempt to share the truth, they often quote Ellen White out of context saying that she says when it comes to the Holy Spirit that silence is golden. They usually back down when you tell them that would also mean they cannot state anything in regards to the Holy Spirit either. Ellen White spoke about the identity of the Holy Spirit over 20,000 times. Hardly what one would call silence. Satan has many such foolish means to try and silence the truth from being spoken.

Here is one more unmistakable quote that reveals exactly who the Holy Spirit is. Remember that it is claimed Ellen White had become a Trinitarian before writing the Desire of Ages. But you will note that the quote below is from this book and is as non-Trinitarian as you can get. The Desire of Ages is in fact full of non-Trinitarian quotes. See the previous page for several examples. When Christ breathed on His disciples and gave them the Holy Spirit, whose Spirit did He give to them? “And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive you the Holy Ghost:John 20:22.

And when He had said this, He [Christ] breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: ... Before the disciples could fulfill their official duties in connection with the church, Christ breathed His Spirit upon them. He was committing to them a most sacred trust, and He desired to impress them with the fact that without the Holy Spirit this work could not be accomplished.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 805)

It does not get much clearer than this. The Holy Spirit Christ breathed on His disciples and the Holy Spirit that was received at Pentecost was none other than the Spirit of Christ. It was His Spirit, not some other being!

So who is the Holy Spirit according to Ellen White? “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ,” — (Ellen G. White, 14MR 84.3). And where does she say the Holy Spirit comes from? “The Holy Spirit, which proceeds from the only begotten Son of God,” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, April 5, 1906). If you are not seeing the truth by now, then with respect, I say you are prejudiced and do not really want it. And that is not a good place to be.

Once you know who Ellen White calls the Holy Spirit, and that she calls the Holy Spirit of Christ a person, it becomes obvious that the quotes used by Froom are non-Trinitarian and that she never changed from what God revealed to her.

Below is one more quote Froom used in his book Evangelism that relates to Christ rather than the Holy Spirit that requires an explanation for many it seems.

(Evangelism p. 615.2)

Christ is the pre-existent, self-existent Son of God.... In speaking of his pre-existence, Christ carries the mind back through dateless ages. He assures us that there never was a time when He was not in close fellowship with the eternal God. He to whose voice the Jews were then listening had been with God as one brought up with Him.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, August 29, 1900) — Evangelism p. 615.2)

Let's look at this statement from Ellen White that Froom used with intent to deceive in sections.

Pre-existence: The words pre-existent or pre-existence are not found in the Bible. However, the meaning of these words are applied to the existence of Christ before His incarnation. Wikipedia on the Pre-existence of Christ says: “The doctrine of the pre-existence (or preexistence) of Christ asserts the ontological or personal existence of Christ before his conception.

All dictionaries state that pre-existence means to exist before something else. It does not however mean to have always existed. The word pre-existence in fact implies a beginning. The idea of pre-existence is consistent with Scripture which continually reveals Christ to have existed as the Son of God before His incarnation and before all things were created.

The trinity doctrine claims Christ has always existed and to state the obvious, that means He cannot be the Son of God. Thus it is claimed that He is only called a Son as a result of His incarnation and birth in Bethlehem. This however is contrary to Scripture which tells us that Christ “is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.Colossians 1:15 NKJV

Thus we see that Paul is telling us that Christ was “Begotten First or Born Before all creation” because all of creation was by God through His Son Jesus Christ. “And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.Ephesians 3:9

Christ is “the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature; for by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all things were created by Him, and for Him; and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.” — (E.G. White, Signs of the Times, Nov. 15, 1899)

For even further clarity on Colossians 1:15 and her statement above, she states Jesus is the first born of heaven. Christ cannot be the first born before all creation and the first born of heaven and have always existed.

The dedication of the first-born had its origin in the earliest times. God had promised to give the First-born of heaven to save the sinner.” — (E.G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 51)

Jesus was not turned aside by any influence from the faithful service expected of a son. He did not aim to do anything remarkable to distinguish himself from other youth, or to proclaim HIS HEAVENLY BIRTH.” — (E.G. White, YI, Feb 1, 1873)

Below Ellen White states that the personality of Christ as the Son of God did not begin with His incarnation. In other words He was already the Son of God before He came to Earth.

O what a gift God has made to our world! The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. God sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, liable to physical infirmities, tempted in all points like as we are. He was the Son of the living God. His personality did not begin with His incarnation in the flesh.” — (E.G. White, Lt77, August 3, 1894)

When Ellen White speaks of the pre-existence of Christ, she is not just referring to His existence before His incarnation, but also to His personality as the literal Son of God. So it is actually the Trinitarian view that denies the pre-existence of Christ in the full sense, as it denies the personality of Christ as the literal Son of God before His birth in Bethlehem.

Ellen White further confirms this in the following quote which refers to all the fallen Churches which are all Trinitarian. Hence she is stating that all these Trinitarian Churches deny the pre-existence of Jesus Christ as the literal Son of God before His incarnation. Most Trinitarians have not noticed this and have failed to realize that there is more to the pre-existence of Christ then just existing before His birth as the Son of Man on Earth.

The fallen denominational churches are Babylon. Babylon has been fostering poisonous doctrines, the wine of error. This wine of error is made up of false doctrines, such as the natural immortality of the soul, the eternal torment of the wicked, the denial of the pre-existence of Christ prior to his birth in Bethlehem, and advocating and exalting the first day of the week above God's holy, sanctified day. These and kindred errors are presented to the world by the various, churches, and thus the Scriptures are fulfilled that say, “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” — (E.G. White, Review and Herald, September 12, 1893)

Self-existent Son of God: Self-existent means existing independently of other beings or causes. This applies to both the Father and the Son that are not reliant on other beings to exist and so are self-existent.

Ellen White wrote. “In Him was life, original, unborrowed, underived. This life is not inherent in man. He can possess it only through Christ. He cannot earn it; it is given him as a free gift if he will believe in Christ as His personal Saviour.” — (E.G. White, Signs of the Times, April 8, 1897)

Did you notice that this original, unborrowed and underived life can also be given to man? The life of Christ was original, unborrowed and underived as it was given to Him by His Father.

For as the Father has life in Himself; so has He given to the Son to have life in Himself;John 5:26. And since the Father gave His life to His Son, then Christ has the same self-existent life as His Father. If Jesus had always existed alongside the Father as the Trinity doctrine claims, then God could not have given life to His Son as He would have always had life. But Scripture reveals this is impossible.

Ellen White also wrote that “All things Christ received from God, but He took to give.” — (E.G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 21). And of course “all things” means everything! John 5:26 confirms this includes His life as you would expect.

Dateless ages: Time as we know it is measured by the spheres in the heavens. For example: A year for the earth to revolve around the sun, a month for the moon to revolve around the earth and a day for one rotation of the earth. And it is from this that our “date” is derived. Hence the time before the creation of all things is called the “dateless ages” as there was nothing in the heavens to measure time by. So phrases such as “from eternity”, “from everlasting”, “before time was”, “the days of eternity”, “from the beginning” and “before the earth was” were used to describe the period where there was nothing to measure time by. All these phrases all mean the same thing. Quite simply, before the earth and all things were created. Much confusion arises from such phrases due to a lack of understanding of these facts.

There never was a time when Christ was not in close fellowship with His Father: Of course. The Father and Son love each other very much and are always in close fellowship. We should not expect anything else and this is what Ellen White is saying. So while we can say that there was never a time that Jesus was not in close fellowship with His Father, you cannot say that there was never a time that the Father was not in close fellowship with His Son. And hence you will never find Ellen White writing those words.

Had been with God as one brought up with Him: The final part reveals that Ellen White is stating that Jesus was brought forth in the dateless ages and was brought up with His Father being His Son. She is quoting Proverbs 8:22-30.

The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting.... When He appointed the foundations of the earth: then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him.” Proverbs 8:22-30.” — (E.G. White, PP, 34.1)

Below Ellen White confirms that she is referring to the literal Son of God that was brought forth before all creation.

Through Solomon Christ declared: “The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth.” — (E.G. White, Signs of the Times, August 29, 1900)

How many Beings?

Many believe that the Spirit of God is another literal being as per the trinity doctrine rather than just accepting what this phrase actually says and means. Ellen White says that there are two spirits in the world. So if you choose to believe the Spirit of God is another being then wouldn't that make the Spirit of Satan another being also? “Others declared that they were led of the Spirit; but there are two spirits in the world,—the Spirit of God and the spirit of Satan.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, November 24, 1887). So the same faulty logic used for the trinity doctrine would make Satan a binity.

And what about the Spirit of Christ. “But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.Romans 8:9. So if the Spirit of God is another being, than surely that must make the Spirit of Christ another being also. So that would have to make four literal beings if that was the case.

Your spirit is your mind will and emotions. And hence the Holy Spirit is the mind will and emotions of God and His Son. But in order for the Holy Spirit to be another being, then the Holy Spirit also has to have a spirit or it cannot have its own mind will and emotions. So that would mean you would have the Holy Spirit of the Holy Spirit. Where would this end?

The Trinity Doctrine, the Sabbath and the Mark of the Beast

Most Seventh day Adventists think their salvation is secure as long as they keep the Sabbath. But what good is it if you are worshipping the wrong god on the right day? It is worse than worshipping the right God on the wrong day. Both will keep you from the kingdom!

It is interesting that Ellen White NEVER used the word trinity or the three in one principle in any way shape or form. It seems as if God knew that Adventists who do not know Scripture well enough to know the real truth would turn to her writings as an easy way out rather than trusting and studying His Word. And it appears that God also allowed Ellen White to write things that could be misunderstood UNLESS you took time to look at what else she wrote to be sure of what she was really saying. God loves a truth seeker but God will spit the luke warm right out of His mouth. The Lord's Sabbath is often called the test commandment but it appears that the Trinity doctrine is going to be God's ultimate test.

When it comes to the mark of the beast being enforced, it is going to be pretty much common knowledge what the Adventist Church believes in regards to Sunday worship and the mark of the beast. And yet the book of Revelation still indicates that the world is going to be deceived on this. So how can that be unless there is more to it? Don't you think that the world would wake up and consider more seriously what the Adventist Church believes if Sunday law was enforced?

The question was asked in the Catholic Catechism, “What is Sunday...” The answer was, “It is a day dedicated by the Apostles to the honor of the most holy Trinity.” — (Review and Herald, vol. 5, no. 24, p. 86). Interesting statement considering “Sunday worship” and the “Trinity doctrine” both came from sun and Satan worship in Babylon, and they were both brought into Christendom by the Catholic Church whom God calls Babylon! They are also both about who we worship. Do we worship the one true God on His Holy day, or a pagan three in one god?

Revelation 13:17 says that you cannot buy or sell unless you have the MARK, NAME or the NUMBER of the beast which is 666. Three separate things! The number 666 comes from the worship of the sun that gave us Sunday worship and the Trinity doctrine. Is there more to the mark of the beast than just the Sabbath? Ellen White said, “The light that we have upon the third angel's message is the true light. The mark of the beast is exactly what it has been proclaimed to be. Not all in regard to this matter is yet understood nor will it be understood until the unrolling of the scroll, but a most solemn work is to be accomplished in our world.” — (Ellen G. White, 6T 17.1, 1900)

And considering “Sunday worship” and the “Trinity doctrine” were both brought into Christendom by the beast (Catholic Church), then consider the following statement.

The third angel's message has been sent forth to the world, warning men against receiving the mark of the beast or of his image in their foreheads or in their hands. To receive this mark means to come to the same decision as the beast has done, and to advocate the same ideas, in direct opposition to the word of God.” — (E.G. White, Review and Herald, July 13, 1897)

So Adventists know what the mark of the beast is, but what about the name and the number of the beast? And what about the Seal of God? Which God do we need to be sealed by? The one true God the Father, or the pagan three in one Trinity god. This could certainly explain why so many will still be deceived and are going to perish in the end. This topic needs to be taken very seriously and especially since Ellen White says there is more to be revealed. See the pagan origins of the trinity doctrine for more on this and the origin of the number 666. Watch the following for detailed information on how the trinity doctrine relates to mark, name and number of the beast. You cannot afford to get this wrong.

PLEASE NOTE: All videos produced on the truth on the Trinity by Nader from Revelation1412 are excellent. But I do not recommend or support his material that relates to sin, the nature of Christ, and the moral law.

Did Ellen White Teach Against the Trinity Doctrine?

While Ellen White never used the word Trinity, it is known that she rebuked Dr. Kellogg for teaching the trinity doctrine which can only be seen by looking at the letters that went back and forth. See A.G. Daniells to W.C. White letter for proof that Kellogg adopted the trinity doctrine. From the letters Ellen White wrote you see that she specifically rebuked Kellogg for teaching that the Holy Spirit was a literal being. This took place at least eight years after it is claimed she became a Trinitarian. So again this proves that Froom's quotes are misunderstood as you do not rebuke someone for teaching the trinity doctrine if you believe it yourself. See the first video at the bottom of the next page for the letters and proof.

Since the trinity doctrine claims Jesus is also the one God, J. N. Loughborough who is one of the early pioneers wrote, “To believe that doctrine, when reading the scripture we must believe that God sent Himself into the world, died to reconcile the world to Himself, raised Himself from the dead, ascended to Himself in heaven, pleads before Himself in heaven to reconcile the world to Himself, and is the only mediator between man and Himself… We must believe also that in the garden God prayed to Himself, if it were possible, to let the cup pass from Himself, and a thousand other such absurdities.” — (J.N. Loughborough, Review and Herald, vol. 18, p. 184, November 5, 1861). The full quote is found later in this document.

Ellen White, Gordon Jenson in the Adventist Review, are the Father and Son role playing?

The Trinity doctrine for both the Catholic and Adventist Church state that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three god's that are really only one god which are co-equal and co-eternal in every way. Since it teaches that the Father and Son are co-eternal, then they both have to have always existed and be the same age. But this also means that Jesus CANNOT be the literal Son of God. This is a BIG problem. Hence many Scriptures have to be explained away and the relationship between the Father and Son is said to be spiritualized or it is said that they are just role playing. Thus it also makes the Father and Son nonentities as it denies the Father and the Son which is what John called antichrist. It is antichrist because it denies Christ by denying that the Son of God really did come in the flesh since it is claimed it was really the one God that came and died. Needless to say, there are incorrect interpretations of what Ellen White is saying in the following diary entry unless of course you understand the truth and the implications of the trinity doctrine. Since the trinity doctrine spiritualizes the Father and Son relationship and makes them both a nonentity, what is Ellen White really speaking against in the following quote which was written at least nine years after it is claimed she became a Trinitarian?

Omega to One of the Most Subtle Delusions—We are now to be on guard, and not drawn away from the all-important message given of God for this time. Satan is not ignorant of the result of trying to define God and Jesus Christ in a spiritualistic way that sets God and Christ as a nonentity. The moments occupied in this kind of science are, in the place of preparing the way of the Lord, making a way for Satan to come in and confuse the minds with mysticisms of his own devising. Although they are dressed up in angel robes they have made our God and our Christ a nonentity. Why?—because Satan sees the minds are all fitted for his working. Men have lost tract of Christ and the Lord God, and have been obtaining an experience that is Omega to one of the most subtle delusions that will ever captivate the minds of men.” — (Ellen G. White, Diary, #48, pp. 153, 163, August 25 and 28, 1904)

Why do so many accept this most subtle delusion that will ever captivate the minds of men? They seem happier to accept a mystery that makes absolutely no sense in favour of accepting that God is a real Father and that Jesus really is the Son of God as Scripture tells us more than a hundred times. The trinity doctrine is really nothing more than a satanic spiritualistic mysticism that sets God and His Son Jesus Christ as nonentities. Could anything be more antichrist?

Ignatius of Antioch was a student and disciple of the Apostle John. Note below from John's disciple that some in his time had started to teach the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were one person. This is the same thing as the trinity doctrine today.

They introduce God as a Being unknown; they suppose Christ to be unbegotten; ... Some of them say that the Son is a mere man, and that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are but the same person, and that the creation is the work of God, not by Christ, but by some other strange power. Be on your guard, therefore, against such persons.” — (The Epistle of Ignatius to the Trallians, Chapter VI - Abstain from the Poison of Heretics)

Those who reject the pagan three in one god principle are typically called heretics today, and yet in John's time it was the other way around. (Note the chapter title above) Never underestimate Satan to turn truth into error and error into truth. So John was calling those who were teaching that three were one was antichrist because it denies there is a literal Son of God. Below is confirmation from Ellen White also. If you choose to believe that all three are one god then John would be calling you antichrist. Note how this is called Spiritualism just as the Omega quote above that said, Satan is not ignorant of the result of trying to define God and Jesus Christ in a spiritualistic way that sets God and Christ as a nonentity.

And Peter, describing the dangers to which the church was to be exposed in the last days, says that as there were false prophets who led Israel into sin, so there will be false teachers, “who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them.... And many shall follow their pernicious ways.” 2 Peter 2:1, 2. Here the apostle has pointed out one of the marked characteristics of spiritualist teachers. They refuse to acknowledge Christ as the Son of God. Concerning such teachers the beloved John declares: “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father.” 1 John 2:22, 23. Spiritualism, by denying Christ, denies both the Father and the Son, and the Bible pronounces it the manifestation of antichrist.” — (Ellen G. White, Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 686.1)

Consistent with what the Apostle John said in regards to antichrist, these spiritualist teachers are Christians that are denying the Father and Son which in turn denies Jesus is the Son of God. She says, concerning such teachers the beloved John declares while she then quotes 1 John 2:22-23. Three verses earlier John stated that these people were part of his Church and hence were Christians but they began teaching error. The trinity doctrine not only denies that Jesus is the Son of God, it also denies the Father and Son and makes them a nonentity as we saw earlier. Ellen White said this is the work of Satan.

Those who become confused in their understanding of the word, who fail to see the meaning of antichrist, will surely place themselves on the side of antichrist.” — (E.G. White, Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, vol. 7, 949)

Could it be that the way the antichrist denies the Father and Son is by introducing the trinity doctrine into Christianity, which destroys their true relationship by denying the personality of God and His Son? Remember that the antichrist according to the Scriptures is not a secular power but a religious one that destroys the true essence of the gospel.

Ellen White also said, “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father; [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. (Par. 17) ... He who denies the personality of God and of his Son Jesus Christ, is denying God and Christ. “If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, March 8, 1906, p. 9)

So what wrong belief denies the personality of God and His Son which is denying God and Christ? Her husband said, “Here we might mention the Trinity, which does away [with] the personality of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ,” — (James White, Review and Herald, December 11, 1855, p. 85). While Ellen White did not use the word trinity, her husband did.

So if you believe in the trinity doctrine then you deny the personality of God and His Son which Ellen White says denies God and Christ, which both the Apostle John and Ellen White said is antichrist. No longer is their personality that of a true Father and Son. Are you starting to piece things together and seeing the extreme dangers here? To be called antichrist is serious! So Ellen White did teach against the trinity doctrine, she just did not use the word Trinity. God must have a reason for this.

Sadly, the Father-Son sacrifice is no longer taught within Seventh day Adventism. No longer is God regarded as a real father, and no longer is the Son regarded as a real son. Instead they are said to be only role playing these parts or it is said that it is spiritualized. In saying this, the genuine love of the Father in the giving of His Son, and also the love and trust of a son in a true father-son relationship has been destroyed in people's minds. Most Adventists do not even realize that this is what the Church teaches now. Even some Pastors do now know this. Either Stephen Bohr is one of these Pastors or he does not agree with this part of the trinity doctrine. Because Pastor Bohr preached a beautiful non-Trinitarian sermon in December 2014 and was later accused of anti-Trinitarianism by many people and had to recant. I pray that this is the beginning of Stephen Bohr finding the full truth assuming he does not already have it. This sermon Risk of Eternal Loss can be watched on YouTube. What he teaches in this sermon is the real truth about the Father and Son relationship and exactly what non-Trinitarians believe. It is what Scripture teaches and what Ellen White teaches.

Was the non-Trinitarian View a Pillar of Faith?

What about the Pillars of Faith of the Adventist Church that were God given? Did our Heavenly Father include the truth on the Godhead? It would be foolish to claim that God never revealed this truth as there is nothing more important than knowing if God is a real Father and if Jesus is really the Son of God or if He is three gods that are really only one god. If you get this wrong than you are worshipping a strange god which would cost you your salvation! And then there is the Holy Spirit. Is it the Spirit of the Father and Son or another god that is part of the one god? A huge difference that you cannot get wrong!

Are we really expected to believe that God instructed Ellen White to go around correcting those with false doctrines while allowing the Adventist Church to believe the worst possible false doctrine of all being who the Father and Son and Holy Spirit truly are? That is clearly just plain foolishness! “I was sent by the Lord from place to place to rebuke those who were holding these false doctrines. There were those who were in danger of going into fanaticism, and I was bidden in the name of the Lord to give them a warning from heaven.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, May 25, 1905). “After the passing of the time in 1844, we had fanaticism of every kind to meet. Testimonies of reproof were given me to bear to some holding spiritualistic theories. There were those who were active in disseminating false ideas in regard to God. Light was given me that these men were making the truth of no effect by their false teachings. I was instructed that they were misleading souls by presenting speculative theories regarding God. I went to the place where they were and opened before them the nature of their work. ... This is only one of the instances in which I was called upon to rebuke those who were presenting the doctrine of an impersonal God pervading all nature, and similar errors.” — (Ellen G. White, 3TT 270.4, 271.2)

In the continual mission of Ellen White to correct those who held false theories about God, she never once corrected her brethren for boldly denouncing the trinity doctrine, and her husband was one of the most vocal. Would God send Ellen White to place after place instructing her to correct false theories about Himself while allowing His own remnant Church to hold a seriously false and dangerous view on who He and His Son and the Holy Spirit is? And how could Ellen White correct others on false theories about God if she did not have the truth herself? How could all this be possible unless the non-Trinitarian view is correct and one of the Pillars of Faith?

The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced.” — (Ellen G. White, Selected Messages Book 1, p. 204)

The past fifty years have not dimmed one jot or principle of our faith as we received the great and wonderful evidences that were made certain to us in 1844, after the passing of the time. ... Not a word is changed or denied.” — (Ellen G. White, Special Testimonies series B No. 7)

Trinitarians claim that the Godhead is not one of the Pillars of Faith but that is not true. Remember that the trinity doctrine teaches the Father and the Son are co-eternal and hence the same age which means Jesus cannot truly be the Son of God. Thus the Father is not a literal Father and Jesus is not the literal Son of God as explained earlier. This is why the trinity doctrine destroys the personality of the Father and the Son and the truth on the Godhead. So is their personality that of one person? Or do we have the personality of a real Father and Son?

Trinitarians also state that Dr. Kellogg was only teaching pantheism, but he was also teaching the trinity doctrine. See A.G. Daniells to W.C. White letter for evidence of this fact.

Ellen White sent the following two letters to Kellogg on the same day. “You are not definitely clear on the personality of God, which is everything to us as a people. You have virtually destroyed the Lord God Himself.” — (Ellen G. White, Letter 300, 1903). “Your ideas are so mystical that they are destructive to the real substance, and the minds of some are becoming confused in regard to the foundation of our faith. If you allow your mind to become thus diverted, you will give a wrong mold to the work that has made us what we are—Seventh-day Adventists.” — (Ellen G. White, Letter 52, 1903)

There is that word mystical again that she used in reference to making the Father and Son nonentities, which of course destroys the Father and Son, their personality and relationship. So what is she referring to? The Trinity doctrine!

Do not forget that the Godhead is about the personality of God and His Son and the trinity doctrine destroys it as Ellen White and the pioneers stated. “The doctrine of the Trinity which was established in the church by the council of Nice, A.D. 325. This doctrine destroys the personality of God, and his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” — (J.N. Andrews, Review and Herald, March 6, 1855, p. 185). Ellen White's husband said. “Here we might mention the Trinity, which does away [with] the personality of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ,” — (James White, Review and Herald, December 11, 1855, p. 85). Note what Ellen White said about her husband and his writings. “God has permitted the precious light of truth to shine upon His Word and illuminate the mind of my husband. He may reflect the rays of light from the presence of Jesus upon others by his preaching and writing.” — (Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church, 3:502, 1875)

This final quote that she wrote at least ten years after it is claimed she became a Trinitarian can leave no doubt. “Those who seek to remove the old landmarks are not holding fast; they are not remembering how they have received and heard. Those who try to bring in theories that would remove the pillars of our faith concerning the sanctuary or concerning the personality of God or of Christ, are working as blind men. They are seeking to bring in uncertainties and to set the people of God adrift without an anchor.” — (Ellen G. White, MR760 9.5, 1905).

So the non-Trinitarian view was God given and one of the Pillars of Faith. So again we find that Ellen White was never a Trinitarian and the truth on the Godhead is found here alone.

LeRoy Froom held secret meetings with F.M. Wilcox who was of no surprise the man who first added the word Trinity to the first fundamental beliefs in 1931 that most did not even know had happened. J.S. Washburn did the best he could to try and stop them from bringing the trinity doctrine into the Church.

You were in that secret Bible Council which I believe was the most unfortunate thing our people ever did, and it seemed to me you were losing the simplicity of your faith.” — (Washburn to F.M. Wilcox letter, July 3, 1921)

Washburn repeated the same thoughts in a letter to General Conference President A.G. Daniells the following year.

Under the authority, and sanction or permission at least of this so called Bible Institute, teachers were undermining the confidence of our sons and daughters in the very fundamentals of our truth, while the parents were not allowed to inquire into the sacred secrets of this private council. ... One of our most faithful workers said the holding of this Bible Institute was the most terrible thing that had ever happened in the history of this denomination.” — (J.S. Washburn, “An Open Letter to Elder A. G. Daniells and an Appeal to the General Conference,” 1922, pp. 28, 29)

In 1931 F.M. Wilcox succeeded in adding the word Trinity to the first Adventist fundamental statement of beliefs but it was not official. It was not for another 50 years before the trinity doctrine was officially accepted as being part of the doctrinal beliefs. Note what was written in the Review about this issue shortly after its acceptance at the Dallas Convention in 1980.

While no single Scripture passage states the doctrine of the Trinity, it is assumed as a fact... only by faith can we accept the existence of the Trinity.” — (Adventist Review, Vol. 158, No. 31, p. 4)

Is there any other doctrine that Seventh-day Adventists hold as truth that they have to take by faith? Is there any other doctrine that they have no definite Scripture that they can point to in proving their belief?

Here is a statement from a well-known Adventist Trinitarian called Jerry Moon. Sadly, the yellow highlighted part is correct.

That most of the leading SDA pioneers were non-Trinitarian in their theology has become accepted Adventist history, surprising as it sounded to most Adventists 40 years ago when Erwin R. Gane wrote an M.A. thesis on the topic.” “More recently, a further question has arisen with increasing urgency: was the pioneers' belief about the Godhead right or wrong? “As one line of reasoning goes, either the pioneers were wrong and the present church is right, or the pioneers were right and the present Seventh-day Adventist Church has apostatized from biblical truth.” — (Jerry Moon, The Trinity, Chapter, Trinity and antitrinitarianism in Seventh-day Adventist history, p. 190)

Did Ellen White Rebuke the Pioneers for their non-Trinitarian teaching?

What did Ellen G. White say about the teachings of the early pioneers? This was written at least ten years after she had supposedly become a Trinitarian.

God has given me light regarding our periodicals. What is it? -- He has said that the dead are to speak. How? -- Their works shall follow them. We are to repeat the words of the pioneers in our work, who knew what it cost to search for the truth as for hidden treasure, and who labored to lay the foundation of our work. They moved forward step by step under the influence of the Spirit of God. One by one these pioneers are passing away. The word given me is, Let that which these men have written in the past be reproduced.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, May 25, 1905, 'The work for this time', address at the 1905 General Conference, May 16)

Not only did Ellen White not rebuke the pioneers for their anti-Trinitarian writings, but God instructed her to make sure that the writings of the pioneers were reproduced. So from this alone we have two choices. Either she was a false prophet and had no trouble with others teaching serious error on something as important as who the Father and Son are. Or the non-Trinitarian view is correct.

Why would God instruct her to say the writings of the pioneers should be reproduced if their anti-Trinitarian teaching was in serious error? Perhaps God does not mind wrong doctrine being taught. Pardon the sarcasm.

Did Ellen White Ever Change her Teaching on the Godhead?

It is claimed that Ellen White make a huge change in doctrine by becoming a Trinitarian. If this were true, how is it that the Trinity doctrine was not officially accepted by the Seventh day Adventist Church for another 85 years? And it was not for another 36 years after she supposedly changed that the word Trinity was first written into the Fundamental beliefs in 1931, which was 16 years after her death! Why so long? It is Satan that does things very slowly over time so not to be noticed.

The change from there being one true God Father who is a literal Father, one Lord Jesus Christ being His literal Son, and one Holy Spirit being the presence and power of God, to believing that the Father and Son and Holy Spirit are three gods that are really only one God is a HUGE change in doctrine. One of these views is obviously an extremely serious error that hides who the Father and Son truly are. We rely on this information being correct for eternal life so which is it?

It is claimed that Ellen White had become a Trinitarian before writing the Desire of Ages which was completed in 1895 and yet this book has many non-Trinitarian statements which already reveals this to be a lie and deception. In any case, what does Ellen White say? Does she agree with this claim that she changed doctrines and became a Trinitarian?

And now, after half a century of clear light from the Word as to what is truth, there are arising many false theories, to unsettle minds. But the evidence given in our early experience has the same force that it had then. The truth is the same as it ever has been, and not a pin or a pillar can be moved from the structure of truth. That which was sought for out of the Word in 1844, 1845, and 1846 remains the truth today in every particular.” — (E.G. White, Letter 38, 1906)

It was in this three year period that the Pillars of Faith were established. So more than 11 years after she supposedly became a Trinitarian, she states that the truths established in these years were still the same in 1906 in every way. So this is a declaration from Ellen White that the non-Trinitarian view they held in this period is still truth today in every particular.

If we are the Lord's appointed messengers, we shall not spring up with new ideas and theories to contradict the message that God has given through His servants since 1844. At that time many sought the Lord with heart and soul and voice. The men whom God raised up were diligent searchers of the Scriptures. And those who today claim to have light, and who contradict the teaching of God's ordained messengers, who were working under the Holy Spirit's guidance, those who get up new theories, which remove the pillars of our faith, are not doing the will of God, but are bringing in fallacies of their own invention, which, if received, will cut the church away from the anchorage of truth, and set them drifting, drifting, to where they will receive any sophistries that may arise.” — (E.G. White, Ms 75, May 1905, pp. 2, 3)

And here is even more evidence exposing the deception of her supposed change.

That which I have written is what the Lord has bidden me write. I have not been instructed to change that which I have sent out. I stand firm in the Adventist faith; for I have been warned in regard to the seducing sophistries that will seek for entrance among us as a people. The Scripture says, 'Some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.' I present before our people the danger of being led astray as were the angels in the heavenly courts. The straight line of truth presented to me when I was but a girl is just as clearly presented to me now.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, January 26, 1905)

So again, ten years after she had supposedly become a Trinitarian and she claims very clearly that she has NEVER changed anything she wrote since she was a girl. So does Ellen White agree with what Trinitarians claim? Obviously not. The claim of progressive truth is just another Trinitarian lie. Here are two more quotes.

That which was truth in the beginning is truth now. Although new and important truths appropriate for succeeding generations have been opened to the understanding, the present revealings do not contradict those of the past. Every new truth understood only makes more significant the old.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, March 2, 1886)

The leading points of our faith as we hold them today were firmly established. Point after point was clearly defined, and all the brethren came into harmony. The whole company of believers were united in the truth. There were those who came in with strange doctrines, but we were never afraid to meet them. Our experience was wonderfully established by the revelation of the Holy Spirit.” — (Ellen G. White, Manuscript 135, 1903)

Did Ellen White Recommend non-Trinitarian Books?

Note in the following quote the powerful recommendation for books such as the Daniel and the Revelation that contained two pages of non-Trinitarian material. This quote was written at least eight years after she had supposedly become a Trinitarian.

In Desire of Ages, Patriarchs and Prophets, The Great Controversy, and in Daniel and the Revelation, there is precious instruction. These books must be regarded as of special importance, and every effort should be made to get them before the people.” — (Ellen G. White, 21MR 440.4 and Letter 229, 1903)

Here she recommends books that were unmistakably non-Trinitarian and a Trinitarian would never do that yet alone highly promote them. It was in 1945 that LeRoy Froom had two pages (710 words) of non-Trinitarian statements removed from the book 'Daniel and the Revelation' which she said was of special importance and every effort should be made to get it before the people! LeRoy Froom said that out of all the books he had edited, 'Daniel and the Revelation' was the worst. So she was either not a Trinitarian or she strongly promoted a false doctrine to the world, which would make her a false prophet! She was never a Trinitarian of course as we have already seen numerous times.

I hope you can now clearly see that the non-Trinitarian view was God given and that Ellen White was never a Trinitarian. And considering the non-Trinitarian view was a God given Pillar of Faith of the Adventist Church, then why would she be? So of course she was in favour of the pioneers anti-Trinitarian writings being reproduced as God requested, and of course she never changed the truths that God bid her to write since she was a girl, and of course she would have no problem recommending non-Trinitarian books. The weight of evidence just continues to grow and is overwhelming.

Are there Three Beings in Heaven that are to be Exalted

The trinity doctrine claims the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three co-equal beings, so for Ellen White to be a Trinitarian, she would have to include the Holy Spirit in every one of the following quotes but not so. She wrote these at least one to fourteen years after it is claimed she had become a Trinitarian. So these quotes also prove that to be incorrect.

Let the brightest example the world has yet seen be your example, rather than the greatest and most learned men of the age, who know not God, nor Jesus Christ whom he has sent. The Father and the Son alone are to be exalted.” — (Ellen G. White, The Youth's Instructor, July 7, 1898)

Note that there are only two beings alone who are to be exalted as seen above and below. She uses a key word “alone” in quoting here from (John 17:3-5). She wrote this three years after it is claimed she had become a Trinitarian.

The same applies to the following quotes that should all include the Holy Spirit if she was a Trinitarian, but not so. It is always just the Father and Son. Some of these were written up to fifteen years after she supposedly became a Trinitarian.

God and Christ alone know what the souls of men have cost.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, January 13, 1909)

God informed Satan that to his Son alone he would reveal his secret purposes, and he required all the family in heaven, even Satan, to yield him implicit, unquestioned obedience;” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, January 9, 1879)

Can anyone consider the condescension of God in preparing the gospel feast, and its great cost, and treat the invitation slightingly? No man, nor even the highest angel, can estimate the great cost; it is known only to the Father and the Son.” — (Ellen G. White, The Bible Echo, October 28, 1895)

And truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” — (E.G. White, Review and Herald, July 13, 1905)

The human family cost God and his Son Jesus Christ an infinite price.” — (Ellen G. White, Special Testimonies On Education, p. 21, 1896)

In the plan to save a lost world, the counsel was between them both; the covenant of peace was between the Father and the Son.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, December 23, 1897)

But in the transgression of man both the Father and the Son were dishonored.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, December 12, 1895)

Father and Son are pledged to fulfill the terms of the everlasting covenant.” — (Ellen G. White, The Youth's Instructor, June 14, 1900)

In the Bible every duty is made plain. Every lesson reveals to us the Father and the Son.” — (Ellen G. White, Sign of the Times, October 10, 1906)

All the heavenly angels are at the service of the humble, believing people of God; and as the Lord's army of workers here below sing their songs of praise, the choir above join with them in thanksgiving, ascribing praise to God and to His Son.” — (Ellen G. White, Testimonies Volume 7, p. 17, 1902)

In your hands will be placed a golden harp, and touching its strings, you will join with the redeemed host in filling all heaven with songs of praise to God and His Son.” — (Ellen G. White, (Australasian) Union Conference Record, January 15, 1903)

The only being who was one with God was His Son Jesus Christ. The trinity doctrine says the Holy Spirit should be included.

The only Being who was one with God lived the law in humanity, descended to the lowly life of a common laborer, and toiled at the carpenter's bench with His earthly parent.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, October 14, 1897)

And again, the trinity doctrine teaches the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and Son in every way. So why has the Holy Spirit being left out here? Because the Holy Spirit is the presence and power of God and not a literal being!

Christ the Word, the only-begotten of God, was one with the eternal Father,-one in nature, in character, and in purpose,-the only being in all the universe that could enter into all the counsels and purposes of God. By Christ, the Father wrought in the creation of all heavenly beings.” — (Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy, p. 493)

The trinity doctrine teaches the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and Son but Ellen White says only Christ is equal with God which is the non-Trinitarian view.

Why Only One Mediator—Jesus alone could give security to God; for He was equal to God. He alone could be a mediator between God and man;” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, April 3, 1894)

Is it through a third being called the Holy Spirit that God communicates with the world or through Christ and His Holy Spirit?

Let us honor God and His Son, through whom He communicates with the world.” — (Ellen G. White, 8T 238.1, 1903)

How Many Beings Were Involved in Creation?

Trinitarians say three beings did the work of creation because the Hebrew word “Elohim” for “God” is plural. But Elohim can be used to refer to a single person, and when it does, linguists call it a “Plural of Majesty” which denotes greatness. See page one for more on the meaning of Elohim. Genesis 1:26 is also used to say that “God” is referring to three people. Were there three people involved in the work of creation? Ephesians 3:9 says, “God, ... created all things by Jesus Christ:” God in this verse is obviously someone other than Jesus Christ, and Hebrews 1:2 says God created all things by His Son. So who is speaking in Genesis 1:26 and who is He speaking to? God the Father said to His Son, “let us make man in our image.” Christ is “the express image” of the Father, so anyone created in the Father's image is also created in His Son's image. Ellen White confirms that only the Father and Son were involved in creation as the Holy Spirit is not another being but their Spirit.

The Father and the Son engaged in the mighty, wondrous work they had contemplated, of creating the world. ... After the earth was created, and the beasts upon it, the Father and Son carried out their purpose, which was designed before the fall of Satan, to make man in their own image. They had wrought together in the creation of the earth and every living thing upon it. And now God said to His Son, “Let us make man in our image.” — (E.G. White, 1SP, 24.1,2)

In the beginning, the Father and the Son had rested on the Sabbath after their work of Creation.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 769)

The Father and the Son rested after Their work of Creation.” — (Ellen G. White, MS 25, p. 3, 1898)

Who is the Third Highest Being in Heaven?

The third highest being in Heaven according to the trinity doctrine would be the Holy Spirit. But these two non-Trinitarian quotes inform us that it was Satan before the fall and Gabriel after.

Among the inhabitants of heaven, Satan, next to Christ, was at one time most honored of God, and highest in power and glory.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, July 23, 1902)

It was Gabriel, the angel next in rank to the Son of God, who came with the divine message to Daniel.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 234)

So Satan used to be the third highest being in Heaven before the fall of man but now it is Gabriel. By Satan creating a non-existent third literal being, Satan steps into that position he has created and effectively regains the position he lost as the third highest being in heaven. As a result, he also receives worship by representation as he has also done with Sunday worship.

Who did Ellen White say Christ was?

Most Adventists will state that “Jesus is the Son of God” but there are different meanings attached to these words. The sad reality is that most Adventists do not believe Jesus to be the Son of God at all if they subscribe to their denominational statements of belief. Because the trinity doctrine claims that Jesus is NOT the LITERAL Son of God because this doctrine claims that Jesus is the same age as the Father and has always existed alongside the Father.

Who is Christ? -- He is the only begotten Son of the living God.” — (Ellen G. White, The Youth's Instructor, June 28, 1894)

Christ threw back the charge of blasphemy, with the words, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for what things soever He doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth Him all things that himself doeth.” My authority for the work that I am doing, He said, is the fact that I am God's Son, one with Him in nature, will, and purpose. I co-operate with Him in His work. My Father loves me, and communicates to me all His counsels. Nothing is planned by the Father in heaven that is not fully opened to the Son.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, March 5, 1901)

The quotes below reveal the following significant points.

  1. Christ was the first born of Heaven and hence is the literal Son of God which means He had a beginning.
  2. Christ was already the Son of God in Heaven and hence this was before He was born on Earth as the Son of man.
  3. She says God sent His own Son which also reveals He was God's Son before He came to Earth.
  4. The personality of Christ as the Son of God did not begin with His incarnation but was beforehand in Heaven.
  5. Christ was born from His Father even before God created the angels.
  6. War in Heaven began because Satan was jealous of God's Son and wanted to be exalted above Him.

The dedication of the first-born had its origin in the earliest times. God had promised to give the First-born of heaven to save the sinner.” — (Ellen G.

Christ is the star that should arise out of Jacob, and the one in whom all the nations of the earth should be blessed, as the first born of heaven, and the only begotten of the Father, filled with all the treasures of eternity. He assumed humanity, and impressed upon it the glorious image of the everlasting God.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt101, February 17, 1896)

O what a gift God has made to our world! The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. God sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, liable to physical infirmities, tempted in all points like as we are. He was the Son of the living God. His personality did not begin with His incarnation in the flesh.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt77, August 3, 1894)

The following quote also reveals that Christ was the Son of God before His incarnation. Ellen White is referring to those who deny Jesus is the literal Son of God and states it is a folly to argue with such people who give evidence of their own ignorance of God and of his Son.

Another dangerous heresy is the doctrine that denies the divinity of Christ. Men who have no experimental knowledge of Jesus, will yet assume an appearance of great wisdom, as though their judgment were beyond question, and boldly declare that the Son of God had no existence prior to his first advent to this world. This position directly contradicts the plainest statements of our Saviour concerning himself; yet it is received with favor by a large class who claim to believe the Scriptures. With such persons it is folly to argue. No argument, however conclusive, will convince those who reject the direct testimony of the Son of God. “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” [1 Corinthians 2:14.] Those who persistently cling to such errors, give evidence of their own ignorance of God and of his Son.” — (Ellen G. White, 4SP 347.3)

Satan was well acquainted with the position of honor Christ had held in Heaven as the Son of God, the beloved of the Father. And that he should leave Heaven and come to this world as a man filled him with apprehension for his own safety.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, March 3, 1874)

Satan well knew the position that Christ had held in heaven as the Beloved of the Father. That the Son of God should come to this earth as a man filled him with amazement and with apprehension. He could not fathom the mystery of this great sacrifice. His selfish soul could not understand such love for the deceived race.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p.115)

Before the foundations of the world were laid, He, the only begotten Son of God, pledged Himself to become the Redeemer of the human race should men sin. Adam fell, and He, who was partaker of the Father's glory before the world was, laid aside His royal robe and kingly crown and stepped down from His high authority to become a babe in Bethlehem, that He might redeem fallen human beings by passing over the ground where Adam stumbled and fell.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms22-1905)

I am instructed to say to you, All this holding to sentiments of infallibility is a specious device of the angel that was so exalted in the heavenly court. His beauty was so highly exalted that he thought he should be as God, and Christ must be second to him; but the Lord informed Satan this could not be possible. Christ was His only begotten Son.” — (E.G. White, Lt157-1910)

It was in seeking to exalt himself above the Son of God that Satan had sinned in heaven.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p.129)

Christ was the only begotten Son of God, and Lucifer, that glorious angel, got up a warfare over the matter, until he had to be thrust down to the earth.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms86, August 21, 1910)

Jesus stood by their side in the fiery furnace, and the glory of his presence convinced the proud king of Babylon that it could be no other than the Son of God.” — (Ellen G. White, The Youth's Instructor, 1904)

Angels that were loyal and true sought to reconcile this mighty, rebellious angel to the will of his Creator. They justified the act of God in conferring honor upon Christ, and with forcible reasoning sought to convince Lucifer that no less honor was his now than before the Father had proclaimed the honor which He had conferred upon His Son. They clearly set forth that Christ was the Son of God, existing with Him before the angels were created;” — (Ellen G. White, Story of Redemption, 15.2)

And since Ellen White distinguishes between before and after the angels were created, then she is also revealing that there was a time that Christ was brought forth from His Father. If Christ had always existed then she would not need to specify when Christ became the Son of God. She is specifying that Christ was the Son before the angels were created and not after.

Ellen G. White Son of God

So there can be no doubt that Jesus was God's Son long before He considered sending Him to Earth to pay the debt for our sin. So, is this a real Father and Son? Not hard to see if you desire truth.

Said the angel, Think ye that the Father yielded up his dearly beloved Son without a struggle? No, no. It was even a struggle with the God of Heaven, whether to let guilty man perish, or to give his beloved Son to die for them. Angels were so interested for man's salvation that there could be found among them those who would yield their glory, and give their life for perishing man. But, said my accompanying angel, That would avail nothing. The transgression was so great that an angel's life would not pay the debt. Nothing but the death and intercessions of his Son would pay the debt, and save lost man from hopeless sorrow and misery.” — (Ellen G. White, 1SP 48.1)

Note that the nature of God and His only begotten Son is actually illustrated on a small scale with Adam and Eve. “Adam had enjoyed the companionship of God and of holy angels. ... Love, gratitude, loyalty to the Creator—all were overborne by love to Eve. She was a part of himself,” — (Ellen G. White, PP, 56.2)

In exactly the same way Eve was part of Adam, Christ is part of God. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God's love for the world was not manifest because He sent His Son, but because He loved the world He sent His Son into the world that divinity clothed with humanity might touch humanity, while divinity lay hold of infinity. Though sin had produced a gulf between man and his God, divine benevolence provided a plan to bridge that gulf. And what material did He use? A part of Himself. The brightness of the Father's glory came to a world all seared and marred with the curse, and in His own divine character, in His own divine body, bridged the gulf and opened a channel of communication between God and man. The windows of heaven were opened, and the showers of heavenly grace in healing streams came to our benighted world. O what love, what matchless, inexpressible love! [Hebrews 1:3 quoted]” — (E.G. White, Lt36a, September 18, 1890)

It is no marvel with the angelic host that their loved Commander, after he had carried out the plan of salvation, and ascended up to Heaven, should take his own exalted stature, and be clothed with majesty and glory, which was his before he left Heaven. But it was a marvel with all heaven, that the Father suffered the Son of his bosom to lay aside his glory, and come down to earth, and submit to humiliation, and the agonizing death of the cross to save fallen man.” — (Ellen G. White, 4aSG 119.3)

The Eternal Father, the unchangeable one, gave his only begotten Son, tore from his bosom Him who was made in the express image of his person, and sent him down to earth to reveal how greatly he loved mankind.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, July 9, 1895)

Christ was tore from the bosom of His Father and hence was part of Himself as we saw previously. The Son of God came forth from the Father and hence is the same substance of His Father. This means that everything Christ consists of has always existed as it came from the Father. But the person of Christ has a beginning even though what Christ consists of does not. Note the following two quotes.

The Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the Father, is truly God in infinity, but not in personality.” — (Ellen G. White, Manuscript 116, December 19, 1905)

Let the missionaries of the cross proclaim that there is one God, and one Mediator between God and man, who is Jesus Christ the Son of the Infinite God. This needs to be proclaimed throughout every church in our land.” — (Ellen G. White, 1888 Materials, p. 886)

Christ had not exchanged his divinity for humanity; but he had clothed his divinity in humanity, and he gave Satan the evidence for which he had asked,--showed him that he was the Son of God.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, October 29, 1895)

As a prolific Seventh day Adventist minister and evangelist said, “Christ is the only literal Son of God. “The only begotten of the Father.” John 1:14. He is God because he is the Son of God; not by virtue of his resurrection. If Christ is the only begotten of the Father, then we cannot be begotten of the Father in a literal sense. It can only be in a secondary sense of the word.” — (J.G. Matteson, Review and Herald, October 12, 1869)

Here is confirmation that within early Seventh day Adventism it was believed that Christ is truly the literal Son of God. Note that John Matteson emphasizes that Christ is God “because he is the Son of God.

Twenty six years after Matteson had penned these words, Ellen White made much the same comment. This is when she said that Christ is the only begotten of the Father whilst we as Christians are adopted sons (and daughters) of God.

A complete offering has been made; for “God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son,”--not a son by creation, as were the angels, nor a son by adoption, as is the forgiven sinner, but a Son begotten in the express image of the Father's person, and in all the brightness of his majesty and glory, one equal with God in authority, dignity, and divine perfection. In him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, May 30, 1895)

So Ellen White believed that Christ, in His pre-existence, is literally the begotten Son of God. She was speaking in opposition to two heretical views of His origins (creation and adoption). Some believe Christ became the Son of God at His birth in Bethlehem but the Bible and Ellen White says this is incorrect.

The more we think about Christ's becoming a babe here on earth, the more wonderful it appears. How can it be that the helpless babe in Bethlehem's manger is still the divine Son of God?” — (Ellen G. White, The Youth's Instructor, November 21, 1895)

Here is another quote from her that was written at least ten years after she supposedly became a Trinitarian.

Christ brought men and women power to overcome. He came to this world in human form, to live a man amongst men. He assumed the liabilities of human nature, to be proved and tried. In His humanity He was a partaker of the divine nature. In His incarnation He gained in a new sense the title of the Son of God. Said the angel to Mary, “The power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35). While the Son of a human being, He became the Son of God in a new sense. Thus He stood in our world--the Son of God, yet allied by birth to the human race.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, August 2, 1905)

When I read in the Bible of how many refused to believe that Christ was the Son of God, sadness fills my heart. We read that even His own brethren refused to believe in Him.” — (E.G. White, Letter 398, To Dr. & Mrs. D.H. Kress, December 26, 1906)

It saddened Ellen White when people did not believe Jesus was the Son of God and yet this is the official stand of the Adventist Church now. So how does God feel when we accept the trinity doctrine that denies Jesus is the literal Son of God?

The trinity doctrine teaches that Christ is the Father but Ellen White states that Jesus Christ is not the Father. They are one in unity but not in person.

The divine nature in the person of Christ was not transformed in human nature and the human nature of the Son of man was not changed into the divine nature, but they were mysteriously blended in the Saviour of men. He was not the Father but in him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,” — (Ellen G. White, Lt8a, July 7, 1890)

The man Christ Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty, yet Christ and the Father are one. The Deity did not sink under the agonizing torture of Calvary, yet it is none the less true that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms140, 1903)

The following words from Waggoner were inspired by Ellen White and are very enlightening.

In Ps. 45:6 we read these words, “Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of Thy kingdom is a right scepter.” The casual reader might take this to be simply the Psalmist's ascription of praise to God, but when we turn to the New Testament, we find that it is much more. We find that God the Father is the speaker and that He is addressing the Son, calling Him God. See Heb. 1:1-8.
This name was not given to Christ in consequence of some great achievement, but it is His by right of inheritance. Speaking of the power and greatness of Christ, the writer to the Hebrews says that He is made so much better than the angels, because “He hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.” Heb. 1:4. A son always rightfully takes the name of the father; and Christ, as “the only begotten Son of God,” has rightfully the same name. A son, also, is, to a greater or less degree, a reproduction of the father; he has to some extent the features and personal characteristics of his father; not perfectly, because there is no perfect reproduction among mankind. But there is no imperfection in God, or in any of His works, and so Christ is the “express image” of the Father's person. Heb. 1:3. As the Son of the self- existent God, He has by nature all the attributes of Deity.
It is true that there are many sons of God, but Christ is the “only begotten Son of God,” and therefore the Son of God in a sense in which no other being ever was or ever can be. The angels are sons of God, as was Adam (Job 38:7; Luke 3:38), by creation; Christians are the sons of God by adoption (Rom. 8:14, 15), but Christ is the Son of God by birth. The writer to the Hebrews further shows that the position of the Son of God is not one to which Christ has been elevated but that it is one which He has by right. He says that Moses was faithful in all the house of God, as a servant, “but Christ as a Son over His own house.” Heb. 3:6.
” — (E.J. Waggoner, Christ Our Righteousness, pp. 11, 12)

We observe Waggoner matching Ellen White precisely in what he wrote but in some cases in even clearer words then she did. Compare texts by highlighting. Note that Waggoner states outright that Christ is the Son of God by birth.

Did Ellen White agree with what Waggoner wrote in this respect? Most definitely.

I have had the question asked, What do you think of this light that these men are presenting? Why, I have been presenting it to you for the last forty-five years—the matchless charms of Christ. This is what I have been trying to present before your minds. When Brother Waggoner brought out these ideas in Minneapolis, it was the first clear teaching on this subject from any human lips I had heard, excepting the conversations between myself and my husband. I have said to myself, It is because God has presented it to me in vision that I see it so clearly, and they cannot see it because they have never had it presented to them as I have. And when another presented it, every fiber of my heart said, Amen.” — (Ellen G. White, 5MR 219.1, June 19, 1889)

Who did Ellen White say Christ Received His Life From?

Ellen G. White said that Christ received all things from His Father including His life which Christ in turn can give to us. “For as the Father has life in himself; so has he given to the Son to have life in himself.John 5:26. If Jesus had always existed alongside the Father as the Trinity doctrine claims, then God could not have given life to His Son as He would have always had life. But Scripture reveals this is impossible.

All things Christ received from God, but He took to give. So in the heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings: through the beloved Son, the Father's life flows out to all; through the Son it returns, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the great Source of all. And thus through Christ the circuit of beneficence is complete, representing the character of the great Giver, the law of life.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire Of Ages, 21.2)

The Father gave not only His life to His Son but His Spirit also and why they are one in Spirit. The Father and Son were “two in individuality, yet one in spirit.” — (Ellen G. White, Youth's Instructor, December 16, 1897)

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” The Father gave his Spirit without measure to his Son, and we also may partake of its fulness. Jesus says: “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, November 5, 1908)

God has sent his Son to communicate his own life to humanity. Christ declares, “I live by the Father,” my life and his being one. “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him,” “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; and hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of Man.” The head of every man is Christ, as the head of Christ is God. “And ye are Christ's, and Christ is God's.” — (Ellen G. White, Home Missionary, June 1, 1897)

Ellen White says that the life of God and the life of Christ is one life, meaning they share the same divine life. It was the life of the Father that was in Christ. His life was also the life of the Father and not something that Christ had independent and separate of the Father. This explains the following quote that Froom abused and used to convert the Adventist Church to the Trinity doctrine. How easy is it to abuse the writings of Ellen White if you do not study all things she wrote on a specific point?

Jesus declared, “I am the resurrection, and the life.” In Christ is life, original, unborrowed, underived. “He that hath the Son hath life.” The divinity of Christ is the believer's assurance of eternal life.” — (Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 530) — Evangelism 616.2

In a later quote she gave more clarity.

I lay it down of myself” (John 10: 18), He said. In Him was life, original, unborrowed, underived. This life is not inherent in man. He can possess it only through Christ. He cannot earn it; it is given him as a free gift if he will believe in Christ as His personal Saviour.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, April 8, 1897)

And consistent with the previous quotes, did you notice that this original, unborrowed and underived life can also be given to man? The life of Christ was original, unborrowed and underived as it was given to Him by His Father. This life can now in turn be given to us through Christ. As the first quote stated, “All things Christ received from God, but He took to give.” And since the life of the Father has been given to His Son, then that means Christ is also self-existent.

When was Christ Brought Forth from the Father?

Ellen White quotes Proverbs 8 below and says that Christ was brought forth from the Father before all things were created in the beginning of this world.

Through Solomon Christ declared: “The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth.... When He gave to the sea His decree, that the waters should not pass His commandment; when He appointed the foundations of the earth; then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, August 29, 1900)

Compare the following two quotes to understand what Ellen White means when she says that Christ was God in infinity but not in personality. Everything Christ consists of had no beginning because it came from the Father and so He is the same substance of the Father. But His personality began when He was begotten of God.

In arguing the perfect equality of the Father and the Son, and the fact that Christ is in very nature God, we do not design to be understood as teaching that the Father was not before the Son. It should not be necessary to guard this point, lest some should think that the Son existed as soon as the Father; yet some go to that extreme, which adds nothing to the dignity of Christ, but rather detracts from the honor due him, since many throw the whole thing away rather than accept a theory so obviously out of harmony with the language of Scripture, that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. He was begotten, not created. He is of the substance of the Father, so that in his very nature he is God; and since this is so “it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell.” Col. 1:19 ... While both are of the same nature, the Father is first in point of time. He is also greater in that he had no beginning, while Christ's personality had a beginning.” — (E.J. Waggoner, Signs of the Times, April 8, 1889)

The pioneers studied and prayed earnestly together with Ellen White and she frequently went into vision and a clear explanation was given to the Scriptures they had been studying together. So the pioneers were in harmony on the main issues of doctrine. Thus Ellen White agrees with what Waggoner said. “The Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the Father, is truly God in infinity, but not in personality.” — (Ellen G. White, MS116, December 19, 1905)

Ellen White below literally states that there was a time that Christ did not exist but it was so far back in time that we would be exhausted from the research trying to work out when that time was.

Angels of God looked with amazement upon Christ, who took upon Himself the form of man and humbly united His divinity with humanity in order that He might minister to fallen man. It is a marvel among the heavenly angels. God has told us that He did do it, and we are to accept the Word of God just as it reads. And although we may try to reason in regard to our Creator, how long He has had existence, where evil first entered into our world, and all these things, we may reason about them until we fall down faint and exhausted with the research when there is yet an infinity beyond.” — (Ellen G. White, 7BC 919.5). Note that Waggoner below says that it was so far back in time that it was practically without beginning.

As to when He was begotten, it is not for us to inquire, nor could our minds grasp it if we were told. The prophet Micah tells us all that we can know about it in these words, “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from the days of eternity.” Micah 5:2, margin. There was a time when Christ proceeded forth and came from God, from the bosom of the Father (John 8:42; 1:18), but that time was so far back in the days of eternity that to finite comprehension it is practically without beginning.” — (E.J. Waggoner Christ and His Righteousness, pp. 21, 22)

Who is the Holy Spirit According to Ellen White and the Pioneers?

Who did the Adventist pioneers say the Holy Spirit was?

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God; it is also the Spirit of Christ. It is that divine, mysterious emanation through which they carry forward their great and infinite work.” — (Uriah Smith, GC Bulletin, March 18, 1891, pp. 146, 147)

Here we find that the Holy Spirit is both the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ.” — (E.J. Waggoner, Christ and His Righteousness, p. 23, 1890)

The terms “Holy Ghost”, are a harsh and repulsive translation. It should be “Holy Spirit” (hagion pneuma) in every instance. This Spirit is the Spirit of God, and the Spirit of Christ; the Spirit being the same whether it is spoken of as pertaining to God or Christ. But respecting this Spirit, the Bible uses expressions which cannot be harmonized with the idea that it is a person like the Father and the Son. Rather it is shown to be a divine influence from them both, the medium which represents their presence and by which they have knowledge and power through all the universe, when not personally present.” — (Uriah Smith, Review and Herald, October 28, 1890)

We learn from this language that when we speak of the Spirit of God we are really speaking of his presence and power.” — (J.N. Loughborough, Review and Herald, September 20, 1898)

And where did the pioneers get these ideas regarding the Holy Spirit? From Ellen White of course. If the pioneers were correct then Ellen White would confirm, which she does revealing the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father and Son and that they are one in Spirit.

From eternity there was a complete unity between the Father and the Son. They were two, yet little short of being identical; two in individuality, yet one in spirit, and heart, and character.” — (Ellen G. White, The Youth's Instructor, December 16, 1897)

Why are they one in Spirit? “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” The Father gave his Spirit without measure to his Son, and we also may partake of its fulness. Jesus says: “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, November 5, 1908)

The divine Spirit that the world's Redeemer promised to send, is the presence and power of God.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, November 23, 1891)

By the Spirit the Father and the Son will come and make their abode with you.” — (Ellen G. White, The Bible Echo, January 15, 1893)

He [Jesus] gives them His Holy Spirit, the manifestation of His presence and favor.” — (Ellen G. White, 9T 230.3, 1909)

So who did Ellen White say the Holy Spirit is? Another person or the Spirit of Christ being the presence of Christ in you through His Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, which is sent to all men to give them sufficiency, that through His grace we might be complete in Him.” — (Ellen G. White, 14MR 84.3)

The Lord is soon to come. We want that complete and perfect understanding which the Lord alone can give. It is not safe to catch the spirit from another. We want the Holy Spirit, which is Jesus Christ. If we commune with God, we shall have strength and grace and efficiency.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt66, April 10, 1894)

God help us that we may be sanctified through the truth and that sanctification shall have its influence to leaven those that are around us—not the leaven of malice, not the leaven of jealousy, not the leaven of evil surmisings, but it is the leaven of the spirit of Jesus Christ, which is sent down from heaven, called the Holy Ghost, and that Spirit affects the heart and the character.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms36-1891)

The Holy Spirit which is in the world with us today is the Spirit of Christ, not another being. His very own Spirit is spoken of as His representative because His Spirit can function independently of Himself and why Jesus and Ellen White often spoke of Christ's Spirit as if it is another. If you miss this extremely important point you could end up wrongly believing the Holy Spirit is another being instead of Christ's Spirit as so many do today.

Christ has left His Holy Spirit to be His representative in the world, to give celestial aid to every hungering, thirsting soul.” — (E.G. White, Lt84, October 22, 1895)

Christ came to our world, but the world could not endure His purity. He has gone to His Father, but he has sent his Holy Spirit to represent him in the world till he shall come again. This is the message we are to bear, “Behold he cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms1, January 11, 1897)

The Holy Spirit, which proceeds from the only begotten Son of God, binds the human agent, body, soul, and spirit, to the perfect, divine-human nature of Christ. This union is represented by the union of the vine and the branches. Finite man is united to the manhood of Christ. Through faith human nature is assimilated with Christ's nature. We are made one with God in Christ.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, April 5, 1906)

The next two quotes refer to the gift of the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit (third person) which is the Spirit of Christ.

Cumbered with humanity, Christ could not be in every place personally; therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them, go to His father, and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself, divested of the personality of humanity, and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit, as the Omnipresent.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt119, February 18, 1895)

Christ determined that when he ascended from this earth, he would bestow a gift on those who had believed on him, and those who should believe on him. What gift could he bestow rich enough to signalize and grace his ascension to the mediatorial throne? It must be worthy of his greatness and his royalty. He determined to give his representative, the third person of the Godhead. This gift could not be excelled. He would give all gifts in one, and therefore the divine Spirit, that converting, enlightening and sanctifying power, would be his donation.” — (E.G. White, The Watchman, November 28, 1905)

Who is Christ's representative which is the third person as stated above? It is not another being but the Spirit of Christ.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ; it is His representative. Here is the divine agency that carries conviction to hearts. When the power of His Spirit is revealed through the servants of God, we behold divinity flashing through humanity.” — (Ellen G. White, 13MR 313.3, 1895)

The Holy Spirit is Christ's representative, but divested of the personality of humanity, and independent thereof. Cumbered with humanity, Christ could not be in every place personally. Therefore it was for their interest that He should go to the Father, and send the Spirit to be His successor on earth. No one could then have any advantage because of his location or his personal contact with Christ. By the Spirit the Saviour would be accessible to all. In this sense He would be nearer to them than if He had not ascended on high.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 669)

When the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the early church, 'The whole multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul.' The Spirit of Christ made them one. This is the fruit of abiding in Christ.” — (Ellen G. White, GCDB, February 6, 1893)

O, how we grieve the pure, holy Spirit of Christ with our defiling sins! We are not prepared for the appreciation of the holy communion with Christ and with one another unless we are cleansed by his efficacy.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, July 5, 1898)

Christ gives them the breath of His own spirit, the life of His own life. The Holy Spirit puts forth its highest energies to work in heart and mind.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 827)

How does Christ subdue his chosen people to himself?—It is by the power of his Holy Spirit;” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, January 30, 1894)

All professions of Christianity are but lifeless expressions of faith until Jesus imbues the believer with his spiritual life, which is the Holy Ghost.” — (Ellen G. White, The Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 3, p. 242)

While Jesus ministers in the sanctuary above, He is still by His Spirit the minister of the church on earth. He is withdrawn from the eye of sense, but His parting promise is fulfilled, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” Matt. 28:20. While He delegates His power to inferior ministers, His energizing presence is still with His church.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 166)

He is coming to us by His Holy Spirit today. Let us recognize Him now; then we shall recognize Him when He [Christ] comes in the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, April 30, 1901)

The influence of the Holy Spirit is the life of Christ in the soul. We do not now see Christ and speak to Him, but His Holy Spirit is just as near us in one place as another. It works in and through every one who receives Christ. Those who know the indwelling of the Spirit reveal the fruits of the Spirit,-love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.” — (Ellen G. White, The Bible Echo, June 17, 1901)

Who does Ellen White show to be the first, second and third person of the Godhead? The third person is in bold.

Let them be thankful to God for His manifold mercies and be kind to one another. They have one God and one Saviour; and one Spirit--the Spirit of Christ--is to bring unity into their ranks.” — (Ellen G. White, 9T 189.3, 1909)

Who spoke through the prophets of old?

The Saviour had spoken through all the prophets. “The Spirit of Christ which was in them” “testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p.234)

Daniel was imbued with the Spirit of Jesus Christ.” — (Ellen G. White, Lt90, May 29, 1894)

When God gives us His Holy Spirit, God gives us Himself, it is not another literal being as per the trinity doctrine!

In giving us His Spirit, God gives us Himself, making Himself a fountain of divine influences, to give health and life to the world.” — (Ellen G. White, 7T 273.1, 1902)

When Christ breathed on His disciples and gave them the Holy Spirit, whose Spirit was it that He gave? “And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive you the Holy Ghost:John 20:22. See the following quote where Ellen White quotes John 20:22 for the unmistakable answer. In the next section you will find that the Comforter is Christ coming in ANOTHER form being through His Holy Spirit. This is why the Comforter and hence His Holy Spirit could not be given until Christ had returned to the Father and been glorified. Please read carefully.

And when He had said this, He [Christ] breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whosesoever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whosesoever sins ye retain, they are retained. The Holy Spirit was not yet fully manifested; for Christ had not yet been glorified. The more abundant impartation of the Spirit did not take place till after Christ's ascension. Not until this was received could the disciples fulfill the commission to preach the gospel to the world. But the Spirit was now given for a special purpose. Before the disciples could fulfill their official duties in connection with the church, Christ breathed His Spirit upon them. He was committing to them a most sacred trust, and He desired to impress them with the fact that without the Holy Spirit this work could not be accomplished.” — (E.G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 805)

The impartation of the Spirit is the impartation of the life of Christ.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, 805.3)

Christ gives them the life of his life. The Holy Spirit puts forth its highest energies to work in mind and heart.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, January 5, 1911)

The influence of the Holy Spirit is the life of Christ in the soul.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, October 26, 1897)

Who did Ellen White say was the Comforter?

The quotes from Ellen White below frequently shock many Adventists as they believe the Comforter is the Holy Spirit as another being rather than Christ through HIS Spirit. The moment Christians read the words “another Comforter” in John 14:16, they miss the fact that Christ says four times that He is their Comforter in the verses that follow. The Holy Spirit is NOT another being but the Spirit of Christ who is also called our Comforter. And who better to comfort us than the one who knows what it is like to be tempted and suffer as we do. The quotes below are only a very small amount of her writings in regards to the Comforter. See who is the Comforter Jesus promised for extensive detail.

The Saviour is our Comforter. This I have proved Him to be.” — (Ellen G. White, 8MR 49.3)

Let them study the seventeenth of John, and learn how to pray and how to live the prayer of Christ. He is the Comforter. He will abide in their hearts, making their joy full.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, January 27, 1903)

This refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called the Comforter.” — (Ellen G. White, 14MR 179.2)

The Comforter is Christ dwelling in us through the Spirit. “When He should come forth from the tomb, their sorrow would be turned to joy. After His ascension He was to be absent in person; but through the Comforter He would still be with them, and they were not to spend their time in mourning.” — (Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 278)

What saith our Saviour? “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father; and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” When trials overshadow the soul, remember the words of Christ, remember that He [Christ] is an unseen presence in the person of the Holy Spirit, and He will be the peace and comfort given you, manifesting to you that He is with you, the Sun of Righteousness, chasing away your darkness.” — (Ellen G. White, DG 185.2, 1897)

It is not essential for you to know and be able to define just what the Holy Spirit is. Christ tells us that the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and that the Comforter is the Holy Ghost, “the Spirit of truth, which the Father will send in my name” ... This refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called the Comforter.” — (Ellen G. White, 14MR 179)

Christ is to be known by the blessed name of Comforter. “The Comforter,” said Christ to His disciples, “which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms7, January 26, 1902)

Christ comes as a Comforter to all who believe. He invites your confidence. He says, “Abide in me.” Surely we may trust in our loving Saviour. You can say, “Yes, my Saviour, in Thee I can and will trust. I will abide in Thee.” Then how trustfully you can work in His presence. Your works will be but the fruit of Christ working in you. You may rest in what Christ can do for you. And the energies of your soul will be awakened to cooperate with Him. He will work in you to do His good pleasure.” — (Ellen G. White, 8MR 57.3, 1898)

The work of the holy Spirit is immeasurably great. It is from this source that power and efficiency come to the worker for God; and The holy Spirit is the comforter, as the personal presence of Christ to the soul.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, November 29, 1892)

The work of the holy Spirit is immeasurably great. It is from this source that power and efficiency come to the worker for God; and the holy Spirit is the comforter, as the personal presence of Christ to the soul.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, November 29, 1892)

The nights are long and painful, but Jesus is my Comforter and my Hope.” — (Ellen G. White, 19MR 296.2)

Christ is everything to those who receive Him. He is their Comforter, their safety, their healthfulness. Apart from Christ there is no light at all.” — (Ellen G. White, 21MR 372.1)

There is no comforter like Christ, so tender and so true. He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities. His Spirit speaks to the heart.... The influence of the Holy Spirit is the life of Christ in the soul.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, October 26, 1897)

To the poor and oppressed and downtrodden of earth, Christ says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, even the Spirit of truth, (which is Christ formed within the hope of glory,) whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not: but ye know him, for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless.” — (Ellen G. White, Ms24, February 22, 1898)

The reasons why the churches are weak and sickly and ready to die is that the enemy has brought influences of a discouraging nature to bear upon trembling souls. He has sought to shut Jesus from their view as the Comforter.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, August 26, 1890)

As by faith we look to Jesus, our faith pierces the shadow, and we adore God for His wondrous love in giving Jesus the Comforter.” — (Ellen G. White, 19MR 297.3)

If Christ is the Immortal God He Cannot Die

A divine being died. However, it is important to understand that God is immortal, therefore the only way in which Christ could die is to come here as a man, and trust in the power of His Father alone.

He humbled himself, and took mortality upon him. As a member of the human family, he was mortal.” — (Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, September 4, 1900)

Men need to understand that Deity suffered and sank under the agonies of Calvary...” — (MS 153, 1898). (Ellen G. White, S.D.A. Bible Commentary, vol. 7, p. 907)

Is Christ equal with God?

God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son,”-- not a son by creation, as were the angels, nor a son by adoption, as is the forgiven sinner, but a Son begotten in the express image of the Father's person, and in all the brightness of his majesty and glory, one equal with God in authority, dignity, and divine perfection. In him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, May 30, 1895)

The great Creator assembled the heavenly host, that he might in the presence of all the angels confer special honor upon his Son. The Son was seated on the throne with the Father, and the heavenly throng of holy angels was gathered around them. The Father then made known that it was ordained by himself that Christ should be equal with himself; so that wherever was the presence of his Son, it was as his own presence. His word was to be obeyed as readily as the word of the Father. His Son he had invested with authority to command the heavenly host.” — (Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, January 9, 1879; also in Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 1, pp. 18, 19)

Christ was made equal. “All power and authority” in not just earth but heaven as well, “was given by the Father.” He was ordained by the Father that He should be equal. This takes nothing away from Christ. He was in all things partaker of the Godhead. Some say that stating He was given authority demeans the Son because they believe He possessed all power and authority of His own self. We should let scriptures be the judge of that. No Trinitarian can agree with this statement below that was made after she had supposedly become a Trinitarian!

The Scriptures clearly indicate the relation between God and Christ, and they bring to view as clearly the personality and individuality of each. [Hebrews 1:1-5 quoted.] God is the Father of Christ; Christ is the Son of God. To Christ has been given an exalted position. He has been made equal with the Father. All the counsels of God are opened to His Son.” — (Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8, p. 268, 1904)

Note that He has been made equal by His Father, with His Father. When Christ speaks it is as though His Father is speaking. Hebrews 1:3 says “by inheritance has he obtained a name” as she quoted above. Like the Son will inherit His Father's name. So is Christ able to speak on behalf of the only true God the Father [John 17:3-5]. “He has declared his fathers name,” (John 17:26). By inheritance He possesses the very nature and form of God, just as any human by inheritance possesses the very nature and form of humanity.

Did Christ have Special Power on Earth?

Anyone who denies the following denies that Christ came in the flesh and that is the spirit of Antichrist (1 John 4:3)

Christ's overcoming and obedience is that of a true human being. In our conclusions, we make many mistakes because of our erroneous views of the human nature of our Lord. When we give to His human nature a power that it is not possible for man to have in his conflicts with Satan, we destroy the completeness of His humanity.” — (Ellen G. White, S.D.A. Bible Commentary, vol. 7, p. 929)

Those who claim that it was not possible for Christ to sin, cannot believe that He really took upon Himself human nature. But was not Christ actually tempted, not only by Satan in the wilderness, but all through His life, from childhood to manhood? In all points He was tempted as we are, and because He successfully resisted temptation under every form, He gave man the perfect example, and through the ample provision Christ has made, we may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption which is in the world through lust.” — (Ellen G. White, S.D.A. Bible Commentary, vol. 7, p. 929)
